He is the ex-husband of fellow cow Amanda Bowman Myers, who seems to have been a major influence on his life and his current character even post-seperation, both of them spending a great deal of time ranting about their anxiety, their sexuality and various lolcow pet political issues.
Amanda has since accused Dave of "adhering [him]self to [her] community" and Dave also seems to have picked up her peculiar habit of writing text descriptions of photos in social media posts (presumably a gesture intended for blind people,) illustrating an apparent pattern of copycat behaviour with Dave.

Amanda and Dave got married in October 2013, pictured here is the happy couple on their wedding day with Amanda's family. Precious.
Their wonderful polyamorous union lasted 5 years, the two of them moved in with Amanda's parents in june of 2017, but shortly after, some time between late September and early October, she left Dave and moved out of her parents' house, opting to become homeless rather than remain with her "emotionally abusive" partner and parents. Yes, Amanda now lives in a homeless shelter, sleeping on a gym mat and washing herself in public bathroom stalls with wet wipes. It is worth noting that none of her siblings witnessed or experienced any of this abuse in the time they lived together, shocking!
A tragic loss for Amanda's family, right? But it's not all bad, they lost one daughter, but gained another. Amanda may have left him, but Dave still lives with her parents to this day.
God only knows what else his brother in law has overheard from that bathroom.
So Amanda spends her time fighting with the staff in her homeless shelter about what kind of bedding she's allowed to sleep with and how much, in between shining her phone screen at the "shush monster" who sleeps next to her and rustling bags in her ear while she tries to sleep.
While she does this, what is Dave doing in Amanda's folks' house?
In December of 2018, Dave went on a date for the first time since Amanda left him.
