DeadwingDork / Lolcow YouTubers - man reads kiwi farms threads and more to slightly entertaining results

Reading off the farms to produce easy streamable content has been a thing since I could remember, probably ever even before the sites re-brand. Some people, like metokur in his internet insanity videos, do it well, while others.... are the exceptional detective. Hell even Null himself did this when Mad at the Internet began before it developed later on.
Within the long sprawling trash river of this style of content, I found abit of a diamond in the rough. Originally deadwing started making vids on video games and music, which for a one handed man he's surprisingly good at.
when those videos didn't really take off, eventually he went to some videos covering lolcows and some communities involving them
He got a massive boost due to the Zoosadist leaks, even teaming up with the down the rabbit hole guy Fredrik Knudsen to read woof's texts
His content usually consists of covering a subject with a massive amount of dry sarcasm
though I mostly know about Deadwing in this regard I'm also curious about this makeshift "genre" of sorts because while it's not as common as say, gaming vids, I swear I see it often enough for it to be seen as one

I'm not particularly fond of Deadwing. He obviously gets information from the site but he doesn't abide by the rules. Null's stance on the Woof readings was correct and Deadwing brushed it off saying there was nothing wrong with it. Before hand he'd made statements along the lines of being pro Null and afterwards he avoided talking about him. There was also an instance where he was playing clips from that guy that pretended his girlfriend was dead and when Youtube started messing with his livestream he immediately assumed it was said Youtube striking him down live and got very accusatory. It was also around the time Metokur's stream got taken down because he played an anime OVA from 8 or 9 years ago. He also told everyone to go and brigade said youtuber like he was in charge of a personal army and it was just really dumb.

Hes one of those people that i cant figure out why they are popular
His voice sounds like hes loaded on ambien, he has never been funny and he covers subjects loads of other people already have except worse.

I guess a case of nothing else is on so ill just leave the telly on whatever is on at the time to fill the void?

I think The Right Opinion falls into this category. He does a lot of video on lolcows, most of the mainstream. and frames them as these deep dive documentaries.

I don't know if it's his scripts or delivery but I've tried multiple times to watch The Right Opinion and get really bored or annoyed every time. Something about his video style just puts me to sleep. When he's contained to a small segment on other people's channels he's okay.

Not going to lie, DeadwingDork is somewhat boring. As far as I'm aware, he doesn't have a strict script for his streams, just a general plan of what he wants to feature during any given broadcast, so sometimes he meanders and goes on various rants every now and then. He tends to repeat various in-jokes too frequently, e.g. "Not a bully stream" or various Vinesauce memes, which gets repetitive and somewhat dull after a while. His voice can get a little bit grating sometimes, especially when he's trying to sing something. Superchat breaks grind the stream to a complete halt for a while, although in his defense he usually does them to either transition to next part of the stream, to fill in the dead air, as a palate cleanser or at the very end of the stream.

Despite all of these flaws, he's actually regularly providing content on lolcows an Internet weirdos, which is more than Kiwi Farms' very own Mad at the Internet can boast nowadays. I personally am so starved for audio/video content about funny dumbasses on the Internet that I will take anything, as long as they're providing content that is actually about funny dumbasses. I am also a massive sucker for background noise, so I welcome having a steady source of it.

I think he's fine. He does needs to polish the streaming formula tho.

I notice that many people are comparing him to other content creators but they are comparing apples with bananas, some content creators make documentary style videos about lolcows which involve tons and tons of editing, while deadwing is a streamer, the streamer will obviously have more flaws and won't be as engaging or polished as the edited version because it is a whole different thing.

In terms of his streaming, there are many things I notice that he can improve to make them more interesting and efficient, like keeping tabs on the audio of the stream to avoid spikes, especially when he talks close to the microphone, and generally having a better grasp on the subject or topic to be streamed.

One of the advantages he has is the live interaction with the viewers, I want to believe this is mostly the reason that makes him a bit more popular than other content creators. When you comment on a video, there is no way to know if that is going to be read by whoever did the video, but on a stream you have a bigger chance that your comment will make it to his attention, so it makes sense that more people would be willing to watch something where they can be part of it. This is also something I think he can improve a bit more tho, he normally just reads what people says only if they donate to him, which makes sense, but I do believe he can read a bit more of chat while playing a video or something just to have some sort of feedback and drive the stream accordingly to what the viewers are liking.

I want to believe his idea for the stream is not really that of a very knowledgable guy that is presenting all the lolcows and weird people material to his viewers, like Null do, but more like a guy discovering a bit more of lolcows and his live reaction to all the things he is finding out. I guess it makes sense if he tries to take a lane and choose to be more of a reaction kind of stream which might involve him having to ask someone to guide him through topics so he can react to them, or be more informative and do all this research before hand and then present all the good bits he found.

I think its because it a bit of both. His scripts don't flow well and his "jokes" just land flat. Also he does not talk with any enthusiasm its hard to discribe because his pitch shifts but it still stays monotone and droning. I would suggest watching some one like Darknet or beige Frequency and compare and contrast to TRO.Speaking of both those youtubers are part of the LOL-tuber community.

He has a very Sargon vibe to him in that most of his subs are americans that hear a posh accent and associate it with intelligence. For being called The Right Opinion he rarely gives an opinion at all, he just explains the situation and that's it.

He is pretty average narrator but when he tries to jump styles it gets pretty hit or miss. His editing, commisions to other people, doesn't help at all and also there's the factor that he rarely checks his videos beyond the script like when in Here Lies Rags he got in hot water due to Quinton Reviews using his video to slander Rags and Mauler and admitted he didn't know he did that before uploading. Add that he eats his own hype and you get a pretty milquetoast channel that is popular because he inserts himself in trending events.

other than the moviebob vid which is gold he's pretty dull and i've already unsubbed.

He started out with videos on dedicated topics and switched to streaming when he realized he makes way more money.

got to agree that streamer dough really seems to make youtuber output turn to shit by making it all about 2 hour runtime and pointless superchats where a 5-10 minute vid will suffice.

I’ll admit, I kinda like Deadwing. He feels like a half-informative, half-reaction channel, and I find it funny. Now whether the humor is from the subject or him, I cannot say, but I do like tuning in every now and again. His videos are great to listen to as background noise while playing video games.

For other channels I watch in this style, has anyone ever listened to Jim and Them, or ShellyD. Even Dillin Thomas can be a fun dive. Deadwing is my general weirdo channel, ShellyD is my brony cringe channel, dumbsville and Dillin are Sonic, Clay Claymore is my animation, and Jim and Them are for conspiracy theory wackos.

I am probably cringe for listening to atleast half of them.

any type of "commentary" youtuber is only worth watching because of his voice and the amount of humor he can create from mocking others.
jim and, idk, toad mckinley are great for those reasons specifically, and others with slow boring delivery aren't. the one exception to that rule for me is fred knudsen, I can't pinpoint why I like how he talks because it sounds like it should be awful to listen to but isn't

Same here, every time I try to pay close attention to his videos, I get a headache. His scripts instead of being slow and informative are fast and bloated.
Also, his takes are questionable. Recently he made a video on YanDev and he's cut him so much slack, that I don't even know where to begin. In the videos about Onision he went full on and examined all of his excuses and "debunks", but here it's mostly "eh, he talked about it being incorrect, don't care to go deeper", like he is afraid to call him out or something. Funnily enough, that video got reported for harrassment and Alex called him "trash drama youtuber" in the end.
