Death Note Live Action Drama -

Is anyone currently watching this? It's at its seventh episode so far. I know a lot of the fans will dislike it due to the very noticeable changes, but I'm ending up liking it so far. It's clear that it wants to be different take while respecting the source material. I'm rather engaged so far.
To anyone else, thoughts so far?

Except they're were theatrical movies with a compressed plot and some liberties taken with the story

Spoiler: like...

...a completely different ending where L manages to successfully expose Light as Kira, completely negating the second part of the manga with Near and Mello.

Not sure if this new televised series will be worth watching though.

I'm aware of the movies. I'm just surprised they decided to milk the franchise again.
