Do you guys hate 95% of comedy films and TV shows because the characters are "unlikeable"?
Yes. If the characters are unlikeable (note I don't say "imperfect"), I've got no stakes in the story. If it's fiction, it's not even good as edumacation. Why would I waste time on something no better than static?

Just look at the pretentious hipster who made it:

He looks like he's ready to eat that cereal, man.
Also he kinda loosely looks like someone I knew years ago, but can't lay my finger on who. It's kinda fucking me up looking at his face too long cause it's causing some mad weird cognitive dissonance type shit with the facial recognition spots of my head meat.

And questioning why at one point Michael Cera had a mustache.

Jesus, it made him look like one of the hairy sleazebags you see in an old European porno flick. "Ja, liebst du diesen Schwanz, Baby?"

More on topic, I never disliked the graphic novel or the film. The characters are definitely more obviously shitty people acting out more deliberately shitty relationships in the graphic novel, but the film heavily condenses both character motivations and the actual timeframe in which most of the GN's events occurred. Not my favorite Edgar Wright film, but sufficiently stylish, I suppose. It almost assaults the senses with how bombastic it thinks it needs to be. I also liked the artstyle of the GN almost for how cartoonishly rough it could sometimes be... it's not quite CalArts, and even if it were it predates the flood of utter shite that plays on kids' cartoon channels these days. I dunno, I guess I just read it at a time in my life when I could relate to a lot of the themes.

I think it ruined men more than it did women. The whole story was the author's fap fic where the interesting, hot, amazing dream girl falls in love with a mediocre, boring, white-bread guy because "he's nice". How many incels demand their own personal Ramona Flowers despite being bottom of the barrel themselves? How many soyboys line the coffers of various eThots because they have blue hair? How many trannies initially has Ramona as their anime girl icon that thought they would transition into?
I can't believe no one has posted this yet.

I watched the movie once and enjoyed its visuals. Kim Pine is pretty cool but the rest of the characters are the type that if people “kin” or “stan” to stay the hell away from. Never read the graphic novel, but I have no desire to.

Is the really that interesting?
She's attractive and she fucks a lot of people, that's what I got from the movie.
Aside from her looks, she was quite "bottom of the barrel" herself.
Knives can fight and the drummer girl can play the drums.
What does Ramona have? She changes her hair color.... amazing.

As for the movie, I like it.
Decent acting, good pacing, distinct style, pretty good action choreography, comedy worked for me for the most part.
Sure, it might have had a negative impact on art and the audience but that's not the movie's fault per se.
Wright wanted to make a unique piece of entertainment and he did.
It's a millenial stoner movie, don't expect a game changer and you'll have a good time.

Its complete anime fanfic trash. Prove me wrong.
Rated you "Disagree" because even anime fanfic trash is better than Scott Pilgrim. At least shitty anime fanfic doesn't have any pretension about what it actually is, and since it's fanfic and not an official published work, nobody has any delusions about how awful it is.

The same cannot be said for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Now, the movie was at best a weird Millennial stoner comedy but even Harold & Kumar did that better.

The comic will at best be held up as one of those weird, kitschy, campy, cringe-inducing, or sometimes kinda uncanny creepy aspects of Millennial pop culture in the same way He-Man and Battletoads are for Generation X, Tennessee Tuxedo and EC Comics are for the Boomers, golliwog dolls were for the 1920's, and porcelain china dolls were for the Victorians and Edwardians

No she's not. She's one of those girls who adopts lots of indie subculture aesthetics and media consumption to seem "cool" and "interesting" but there's very little substance underneath. Hell, Pilgrim himself is arguably more interesting just by virtue of being in an actual band. At least he does something.

You lost me at the claim of fucking He-Man and battletoads being uncanny and creepy. I've never found a single person that finds either of those things uncanny or creepy. First time for everything, I guess?

Well, I couldn't think of anything for Gen X that was both uncanny weird and tacky weird. So I just went for the more tacky Gen X nostalgia bait. I probably should've worded my original post a lot better.

He-Man and Battletoads weren't so much creepy and weird but were sure as fuck campy and weird

Scott Pilgrim is like a weird mix of "creepy weird" and "campy weird" in its presenation, while He-Man is just "campy weird"

Anecdotally, every fan of it I can recall from around the time it came out was pretentious. The artsy-indie proto hipster types who believed Ellen Page could do no wrong, quoted Monty Python (but only Holy Grail), had a ton of MySpace Band songs on their crap RCA mp3 player, and spoke very highly of books they had never read.

That being said; it's not so good. It's like "how to ruin the youth 101". Giving credence to the notion of glorifying a woman and putting her in a place of importance in one's mind simply for being different in the most superficial of ways. Also by her long list of exs giving credence to the notion that it's okay to be promiscuous. Connected to that, the weakness of the guy to glorify a "not like other girls"; despite having a laundry list of prior coitus partners, as well as being white knight enough to " fight for her". The fact he "fights" tells me the writer has "retroactive jealousy", which is something folks get when they realize their significant other is and or was a whore-slut and don't have the self respect or mental fortitude to end the relationship and find something not gross or ruined, again harkening back to the borderline worship of the manic pixie dream girl.

TL;DR
It planted the seeds of simping and e-thoting into public consciousness.
