Defunding the Police: It's not quite as illogical as people think -

Before I read this article, I did not know what defunding the police meant. But when I read the article, it actually makes for good policy. Nobody wants to live in a state where there is no law enforcement at all. However redirecting resources towards programs such as violence prevention programs, dealing with homelessness, mental health and substance abuse, will empower people who are better trained at dealing with these issues than law enforcement.

Unfortunately there has been a trend towards making criminal offenses out of society problems such as homelessness. No, we really don't need making it illegal to give a free meal to homeless people or to call the police on someone having a mental health problem. Let's take these kinds of burdens off the backs of law enforcement so they can concentrate on those areas where they are really needed such as dealing with violent crime.

Defunding the police wouldn't be a bad idea tbh. Wasn't the country born out of freedom and self reliance? Did the wild west or the puritan or settlers need a big, burocratized organization with little acountability?

Edit: bois then and bois now.

My issue is that it feels like a slippery slope to me, man. Once you start defunding the police, and start redirecting it to programs that haven't worked with high percents, it just feels like it's gonna go to shit.

On the other hand, defunding police to aid in other public worker stuff makes sense. Hospital staff have to jerry rig shit sometimes (wearing hefty garbage bags because they don't have BSI suits) and that doesn't sit right with me.

It's all bad, man.

If you kill a jogger who breaks into your house, there's a good chance you'll get your name and face plastered all over the news, get waves of death threats, end up on trial for murder, and possibly lose your job. There's also a small chance you'll be found guilty and thrown in prison to rot, not because you did anything wrong, but to appease the mob. That small chance grows every day as the dindu narrative intensifies and more people are willing to violently enforce it while politicians support and enable it.

It's all well and good to say, "Yeah, fuck the police, we should take matters into our own hands" but you can be sure as shit that if you do, the same people calling to defund the police will be screaming for the police to come for you, and the politicians are going to be a lot faster to make that happen because you don't have a large group of people ready to riot on your behalf for the color of your skin and a vast network of media outlets ready to hand down their marching orders.

The point here isn't to create an equal state of anarchy. It never is. The point is to create a one-sided system where one group (depicted as racial, but really political, the people who want to tear down functioning western society and everything associated with it) get handed a club and a Molotov cocktail while the other group (small business owners, home owners, representatives of what's left of the current social order, political enemies of the accepted leftist orthodoxy) get their hands tied behind their back if they look like they're going to raise them or pick up anything they might use as a weapon.

I noticed that the Rolling Stone has a little poll in the comments section where you can rate the conversation in the comments section on a five point scale from Very Toxic to Very Healthy. I rated it Very Healthy.

It’s time for a change in the United States of America.
No change is happening that isn't in line with the Cathedral's wishes, unless a shadowy group that's not easy to identify and destroy starts assassinating members of the financial, political, and media elite.

It's a slow slide into lawless mayhem for the parts of the country that can't close their ivory gates. That's what the "smart" "cosmopolitan" technocrats have decided is best.

I hope the comments were just the word "nigger" over and over.
