He definitely wasn’t in good standing with them after that time he streamed porn. If they shafted pewdiepie for saying nigger then I could see why they would glimpse over etika too.

It shows that YouTube is in a weird stalemate with its audience, where it clearly hates the stuff they like, but can't do anything about it directly.

I don't get why everyone's all over this shit. Etika's suicide was a tragedy, but YouTube Rewind most certainly isn't the place to make note of it, even if YouTube had any business talking about it, which they don't. Why anyone thinks YouTube's administration would want to bring up that a small-time star on their platform slowly degenerated and killed himself (a process that mostly happened on twitter anyway) during what's supposed to be a PR celebration is beyond me, but thats twitter for you.

IIRC the YouTube stuff was just the first phase of his mental breakdowns. One day he just posted porn on that shit with no rhyme or reason to get himself taken down. It synched up with the start of the "I'm a god, we're all gods" type nonsense ranting on Twitter. By that point I don't recall any talk of demonetization, however he of course was after that. He hated Twitch after they suspended him for streaming shirtless, which against Twitch TOS, even for men.
