Despite his claims, DSP is still spending thousands of dollars on the WWE Champions mobile game -

Yeah, but he's a moron. He probably increased his credit limit as high as they'd let him and maxed all the cards out before he ever gambled for the first time.
And we all know he doesn't keep money in his bank account.
And you know what I find the craziest thing about what he did. he had a grand total of 14 credit cards completely maxed out. I have heard of people having about 2 or 3 credit cards sometimes, regardless about if they meet their payments or not, but to most people that doesn't seem too extravagant at all.

But then you had Phil, who had over a dozen pieces of plastic to spend things on stuff he wanted to buy, that he probably could have ended up affording anyway, if he was way smarter with his allocating his money in the first place.

That was downright one of the most dumbfounding things he's ever done, and he's incredibly lucky he got away scot free because of his bankruptcy (but he can't go looking for credit by the usual means anymore for a few good years, now more then ever he's more reliant on that tip money for immediate purchases, whatever they may be).

I dont think he whaled out on credit

I do think he whaled out using all his cash, causing him to not have anything less to pay down or even the interest on his cards
My impression as well that DSP used his Twitch tips to whale and then put all of his actual bills on credit cards.

What he did with his actual Twitch monthly payment "probably" went to bill, but I'm sure he also used some of that money for whaling when he had "freed-up" credit.

DSP only entered top 100 at around 6am pst on Sunday, and proceeded to get squished down. Sadly that’s all I saw as he didn’t crack top 100 after that. Can’t track spending as realistically you could max the contest (11.5m) without spending .

maybe he did turn a new leaf and decided to stop spending? Or didn’t like it was for Damien Priest?
He spent way more than any of us predicted on the previous event. It's entirely possible he whaled unusually hard on that one because he was planning to play less here for whatever reason. Phil is an addict but he still has enough self-preservation to not spend his real basic bills money on this money sink.

Phil told us how this happened because he can't help oversharing: In the mid-2010s he kept increasing his access to credit by kiting cards - max out one card, take out a second one with 0% introductory APR, use that to pay off the old one before interest starts accruing. Done right it can effectively give one access to interest-free credit. I honestly don't know enough to say how much credit Phil could have gotten this way or whether he would have eventually tied it all up just continually passing the debt between different cards but either way he screwed it up. Kiting is extremely unforgiving and one mistake (accruing interest for even one month, inability to get a new line of credit at least as large as the existing debt) quickly turns into crippling debt..... like, say, a man with a hermit lifestyle and six figure income somehow racking up $140k in credit card debt within ten years.

EDIT: One thing to note is that having a large (the exact number is proprietary but the cutoff is in the 3-5 range) number of cards counts against one's credit score even if they are all paid in full on time. If Phil never bothered to close out his existing ones after transferring the balances that could have made him ineligible for 0% APR cards with large enough lines of credit to cover the existing ones. I can't prove it but it's totally in character for Phil - the man is too fucking lazy to even run a decent scam anymore.

The craziest part about all this is there was no need to keep a credit balance AT ALL. DSP probably made $250K/year when he was with Machinima. There was no reason why he should have been in any financial trouble except (1) his mobile gaming addiction, (2) his hoarding of "valuable collectibles", (3) his need to flex with a BMW and a gated condo, and more importantly (4) DSP's complete unwillingness to give anybody money that he didn't have to. The same reason why his relationship with Rambo and Howard soured because he could easily just given them the pittance that they wanted and refused to (like how DSP argued that they lost money on the Project 7 shirts when DSP could have easily just covered their share of bill and then given the shirts away as a Patreon perk with no issue like his did anyway.) Same with credit card debt: DSP will make the minimum payments forever because fuck anyone else that wants his money even if he owes it to them (aka the IRS.)

I love that last bit because it shows just how retarded Phil is with money. Banks don't make that much off of people who always pay in full: There is a ~3 percent swipe fee but even then the charge fees from hundreds of customers would only cover the cost of one customer service rep (really rough math: $15,000 salary / year / 3 percent swipe fee = $500,000 in charges, this is not quite accurate because most cards give some amount of cash back and some charge yearly fees). But thanks to compound interest someone dumb enough to only pay minimums could be paying hundreds or thousands a month while barely touching the principal. The banks probably made their money on Phil many times over by the time he filed bankruptcy. The IRS is less extortionate but they still charge interest and fees because those plans are meant as a method of last resort - anyone applying is either unable to pay up front or too stupid to understand how interest works.

Remember, even after filing bankruptcy Phil does not understand why paying minimums only on his credit cards was a terrible idea. The silver lining to him fucking over any friends he had is that the only places which will touch him anymore are used to dealing with scammers and screwing them over accordingly. I think it is much more likely than not that he will end up in bankruptcy court again and I think it is a near certainty he will wind up in real financial trouble, not just the imagined crisis of the week. If he really doesn't have a hidden bank account even an ER visit will either put him on some sort of payment plan with the hospital directly or force him back onto credit cards.

let’s hope that I don’t see him in top 100 anymore (lol)
Evidence #125072 of this being DSP:
He hates events that involve effort more than just paying to win

DSP has been busy in new competition :/ I had hope he would stop (lol) but this isn’t the case . The scary part is with the score he has , minus the min , divide by 3500 per loot coin, divide by 40 loot coins per hundred dollars, it’s 852 dollars .
They recently added another loot coin for 2500 points per loot coin (55 for 100 dollars) as a points method, but that was 2 hours ago, and this score hasn’t moved since before this (he was on stream) so I can say he’s only bought asuka coins .
852 dollars… there goes the YouTube paycheck ….

One thing that I once thought regarding Phil's WWE Champions's antics was: do you guys think Phil gets off on the idea that he's spending money in WWE Champions and that his detractors know it?

What I mean by that is, does Phil have some sort of twisted pleasure in knowing that people know that he's spending tons of money on a worthless game? As if he's thinking "I know you know, and I still won't stop, how do you like that, you nudnik trolls!?".

I mean, it's more likely that he's simply addicted and is actually ashamed that people know it. Still, I find it insane how he's supposedly still spending thousands on this shitty game, even though even his viewers know he's using the money they send him like this.

Whatever the case, now that his career is really degrading, what will happen to his account and his whaling?

This has been such a huge time and money sink for him, that I can't ever see him stopping tbh (even though he has quit mobile games whilst they were still active) for a lot of reasons, mostly because of the amount of "effort" he's put into the game, but he wouldn't want to lose that account prestige of having so many good jpeg men/women and his legacy of finishing in so many high placings.

He might only stop when the server shuts.
