Detroit: Become Human - another experiment in insanity by David "gameplay is a failure of game design" Cage

So, I wanna' know some things. Is this pretentious hipster garbage like Beyond: Two Souls (and every other David Cage game, to be honest)? Does the game actually have choice? Is there a scene that serves no purpose other than to please David Cage's "deep, dark fantasies?" Most importantly, though:

should i buy it or should i watch the inevitable TBFP playthrough

I haven't beaten it yet but so far the only storyline that's relatively interesting is the detective one. It's like a knockoff Blade Runner. All the other ones are hamfisted and filled with woke allegories. I haven't felt empathetic for the androids at all in the other stories. The rebel leader android story is insufferable with the terrible "violent uprising or peaceful protest" choices and the line between good and bad is too clear to create any meaningful choices for either Kara or Markus. Both of them encounter clear bad or good people that leaves no real interpretation up to the player when deciding how to react.

I think the best way to describe it is as a hamfisted Blade Runner knockoff. I'm really curious how TBFP will deal with the game because I haven't encountered anything ridiculous, just aggressively mediocre. The different outcomes in each chapter are a pretty cool concept though.

Would you describe it as "video game Oscar bait"?

It's a game where androids are an oppressed class who are forced to ride on the back areas of buses.

Was considering getting this after playing the demo but glad I didn't in the end. It figures they would showcase a level for what is apparently the best character, but if it doesn't get any better than that then count me out.

I suspect when more people complete it they will look back at the story to find some gaping fucking plotholes just like with Heavy Rain and B2S, because it's only after the hype dies that people remember how much of a hack writer Cage is.

I'm waiting just for the TBFP playthrough because every time they do a Cage game it's the funniest shit ever.

My predictions is that it will be better than schlock like Beyond Two Souls and Indigo Prophecy, but not as "good" as Heavy Rain. And mind you, there is no truly good David Cage game as of right now. It's ranked from least awful to WHY GOD WHY. I'm looking at you, Omikron.
