Dating apps are like the lottery, those few people who actually found loving partners are the lottery winners. Meanwhile, all of the insane people, abusive narcissists, sex weirdos, and sex addicted sluts and womanizers are the scratch tickets that didn't win. These apps are glorified meet and fuck sites that pretty much only exist to collect and sell data.
You missed a bunch of weird autogenerated profiles that were prostitutes (apparently all those ones that just link directly to instagram fall under that category) and much later on you missed the part where you had to check someone's pronouns which were always convieniently written in like the tiniest font and hidden somewhere at the bottom of the window.
Somewhere around 2018 the amount of actual users on dating apps also fell across the board for some reason, I think because the bot detection software got stronger. It crept back up but nowhere near the levels of users it used to be. In short, you saved yourself a pointless waste of time.

Tinder depends on how attractive and white + good photographer you are. At least in 2021. If this was 2017 or before, it would have been much differnet and fun. But it got too, TOO mainstream and gay. I wouldn't touch it with a laser pointing device during the pandemic.

Online dating is like 70% frusteration and 30% dashed hopes. My advice for finding a relationship is to go to Meetups you're interested in/work/school and form connections organically at those places. Even if those connections only turn into friendships/acquaintances those people are bound to have other friends and relatives that you may end up getting together with. Meeting a friend of a friend is actually a pretty common way people find their significant other.
