Disney Developing 'The Lion King' Remake

Discussion in 'Multimedia' started by Lensherr, Sep 28, 2016.

  1. I even heard they're thinking of remaking Fantasia...*sigh*:deagleleft:

It'll be just as mediocre as all the other remakes, but the masses will go to it because viewers have no idea of controlling themselves.

  2. How the hell can you do that? (They'll find a way...)

At least they'll never remake Alice in Wonderland. The Tim Burton movies were so recent they'll never touch the original - it'll be the only Disney film that's unsoiled at this rate.

  3. They better not touch Tarzan.

  4. They've already greenlit Dumbo with fucking Tim Burton.

There's not a single good original idea left in Hollywood anymore.

  5. To be fair, Fantasia is the only one Disney himself was planning on sequels to. He saw it being rereleased with some old stuff and some new stuff every so often. Now, personally, I thought Fantasia 2000 was kind of meh, but it was true to the idea.

  6. Sorry for sound bit spergy but I really want what this remake works. Im still a fan of the lion king movie. The only thing I want its what they dont limit themselves to copy page for page the original script and instead decide take some risks.

  7. Judging by the Beauty and the Beast remake that's exactly what they're going to do.

  11. Just wait until they somehow get offended by it (I wouldn't be surprised if they accuse the hyenas of being "racially insensitive").

  12. Has Disney ever considered filming the stage musical? If it hasn't closed after twenty years, I don't suppose a filmed performance would crimp ticket sales.

  14. We're going to have more than a decade of these remakes, each one tweaked only slightly to appease the soggy knees generation. I think I have officially outgrown Disney.

  15. It seems ironic in the wake of these remakes that the company was founded by a man who never chose to rest on his laurels and rehash what he had done before, but go on to newer things...

I wonder what it says about our culture, though, that Disney can do something like this and have people actually excited for it?

  16. ^That people are just so incredibly materialistic and shallow to get excited over mediocre remakes? Not to mention, suffer a bad case of short-term memory...

  17. Not so much Fantasia as a full movie based on that Devil short in it.

  18. ...admittedly, the Night on Bald Mountain sequence was really fucking good and I actually wouldn't mind seeing that expanded on. Though I'm not sure if Disney will try to just straight up do family-friendly Satan or if they'll go into more of the Slavic folklore roots.

  19. I dunno, I'm hearing all this and the only thing that comes to mind is that forgettable "Dracula untold" remake that came out a few years ago...

Which, now that I'm saying, starred the new Gaston. I guess Disney can always call him if they need to cast Chernabog...
