Maybe dogs killed Cruella’s parents and that’s why we’re supposed to sympathize with her? I know jack about this reboot, so this is just a wild guess. Really though, it’s completely unnecessary. They need to make original things more instead of milking things that have already been done.
Wow, turns out I was partially right based on what the leaks have shown 😂. Why did my dumb guess come true?

This is the problem with bad prequels.

You don't have to explain EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of everything we know about a character. Cruella's motivation for targeting Dalmatians for fur coats NEVER needed to be explained. She's a obsessive whack job that likes the spotted pattern. That's all we need. Trying to "answer all the questions" just makes the character you're highlighting less interesting.

Look at Han Solo. Wasn't he much better when he was the cynical rogue that had all these references to all these adventures before we met him? Did we really need a prequel movie to show us explanations for all we know about Han crammed into a two hour film?

EDIT:
More dumb stuff from the film.

Christ on a cracker. So basically they did to Cruella what they did to Maleficent.

All women are heroes and the female Disney villains dindunuffin. Gotcha.

well this looks like something ill only watch when im too mellowed out on weed/booze to care. I always check my watch history thinking wtf is big mouth and the live action Alice and wonderland in here? then I remember Oh yeah, I was so strung out last night i found one funny and the other trippy to watch.

I was never going to watch this and looks like my "Disney's Harley Quinn" hunch was right.

Great fucking snakes. :story: And here I thought the Trolls movie had the most retarded trauma reason I've ever seen and heard!

Jasper and Horace being in love with her makes sense. Aside from being criminals, risking it all to steal fucking puppies for some fur hag is weak on its own. It's not worth justifying this movie's existence though.

Western media can’t seem to understand that there’s a difference between explaining a villain’s motivations and justifying them.

You can absolutely create a backstory for a villain that makes the audience sympathize for how they turned evil, while still realizing that they’re an evil fuck who is in the wrong. It’s like they think being a victim automatically absolves one of guilt for their wrongdoing... I wonder where they possibly could’ve gotten that idea from?
It's funny isn't it? This need to understand and coddle villains is coming from the "Everyone deserves a second chance! Understand and express your feelings so we can all make the world better!" crowd who more often than not is caught doing the exact opposite to certain people. Like twist villains.

Anita is a reporter in this? She's a fashion designer too. So not only could they not keep her ginger but wouldn't let the black chick be into fashion too? Disney stop putting lead paint chips into the writers' food.

I am waiting for Disney to do a back story on Ursula next or Scar.

There is that live action Lion King prequel coming….
Now this might be the sexist in me but have you noticed Disney is more focused on making their female villains more sympathetic than their male villains? Perhaps the Lion King prequel will lay on more of the Shakespeare motif but aside from Scar, Disney had a chance to show an origin story for Jafar instead of just doing a live action remake of Aladdin. With Disney planning on another adaptation of Peter Pan, I doubt it will give much development to the character of Captain Hook. And to be fair the relationship of Hook and Peter has been interpreted through different live action versions so I won't be surprised Disney comes up with something completely stupid.

I don't get it, is the movie saying Roger made the song as thanks for Cruella giving him the dog or as an insult to the woman that, as per the narration, he unjustly blames for him getting fired?
It's even funnier because it's a non-white man (he doesn't look white?) writing a tribute song to a rich white bitch we're supposed to root for.
