“DmC: Devil May Cry Has Survived the Backlash & Aged Better Than Many of Its Contemporaries” - The Escapist is still shit even with Moviebob fired

The game shouldn't have fucked with Dante. Whatever faggot they got to replace him comes off as a YA novel 2edgy try hard dude bro.
To be fair to Ninja Theory (bear with me), their original take(s) on Dante looked more like the original character, but Capcom bitched and said something along the lines of "If we wanted just another variation on Dante we'd do it ourselves. Give us something original".
Does anymore remember Remember me anymore?
You mean God Hand-lite?

Devil May Cry 1-3 are the only ones that matter to me. 4 and 5 were just special ones made for the fans to have fun with random fanfiction stories. This article, however, missed the point of what made DMC great in the first place.

This game was alright, had some nice gameplay, the music I actually enjoyed (Combichrist was brand new to me), and some of the concepts like the whole level being through the news channel was pretty interesting.

It just sucked at being a DMC game (Dude that story is so fucking bad and woke), and it still deserves every amount of hate Capcom got for thinking it was a smart idea to Westernize their games in general. Be true to yourself and you'll probably see results from all sides, cater to just one end and you risk losing that element.

People defending this game as anymore then a 5.5-6 out of 10 need a soul searching experience.

You prefer to have Devil May Cry 2 matter more than 4 and 5? Wut?
4 more than 5 started to act a little repetitive, and I noticed that the 4th installment had flashback references to the DmC 2. Though, that’s just me.

I really hope no one will make a LOTR in the next 5 to 10 years, if only cause it'll be a horrendeously wokeified abomination and it would take another 2 or 3 decades after that until someone else tries anew. I'd rather have a new LOTR movie or series 10+ years from now, more closely following the books, even if I have to wait some more.
Off-topic, but, I'm afraid I've got some bad news....

The Journalist said:
Yet nothing about this reboot warranted the staggering, unhealthy rage that all of us bore witness to in 2013 — and have been reminded of repeatedly for years since. Especially because — again — it holds up surprisingly well.

Your mum holds up surprisingly well when a paper bag is on hand.

I didn't want to play it from the moment I saw Donte in the announcement trailer. A complete mess of an edgelord fantasy with all the fedora-tipping shit that modern bloggers "journalists" love, which thankfully tanked and - with any luck- will never again see the light of day. It's great that DMC5 finally came along and burned this shit away for good.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Did I prefer OG dante? Hell yeah, but it is well made and fun in its own way.

I basically took it like this.

DmC reboot is pretty good, but the lack of auto-aim in the initial release was a massive fuck-up. To quote AVGN, 'WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?'

They made Daddy Sparda into a gimp, unforgivable.

And made no comment or attempt to go rescue him either.
Eh, first game of the series. Also, the main series didn't have much about Sparda outside of his backstory to begin with.
Hate to tell you this but the story in these games was always stupid and most people are mad because they changed it into a different kind of stupid in this installment, this IP was never about the story but about the visuals and combat and, at least to me, both are good.
The thing I feel about DmC 2013 is that I started getting that feeling of "cool thing to hate on the Internet", when people talked about how shit it was. And then a buddy of mine told me that yes, it is bad as people say it is after seven years, and she's a pretty big DMC fan. As for the story , yeah it's edgy and misses the point of the original series, and this Dante and Vergil isn't like the original brothers, but the series has always been about the fallout of Sparda fighting Mundus along with the blood feud between Dante and Vergil. As for this game, it tried to be its own thing, and combined with how it missed the point of what came before it and Ninja Theory, it got its hate. Is it overblown? Is it just people trying to get in DMC fan circles when they talk about how much it sucks? I don't know because I'm not too into the series and I only started poking into this fandom with the release of 5. And I think that's probably another thing that got people going: this game was what it was and it looked to be the last DMC content to come for a long time...and then 5 was announced. And that game had so much of what the original series was built on that it seemed like Capcom was apologizing to fans for the 2013 events. I mean, you got this scene which some could argue was a shot at Ninja Theory saying what Dante isn't.

One of the things I hear about this game is "A good game, just not a good Devil May Cry game". And while some say it's like Ghostbusters 2016 and it still sucks without the beloved IP packaging, I think that mantra sums it up best. I mean, GCN, which made a Gaming Sins video just GOING INTO this and tearing it a new one, made his real thoughts known about it. https://streamable.com/g3pyct

However, part of me wonders how the DmC continuity would handle Nero.
What I think is amazing is in spite of the open disrespect given to the core franchise by this motherfucker, the developers of DMC5 still decided to throw in some references and ideas from DmC: Devil May Cry into the game. Music increasing in volume as the combo meter goes up? That was from DmC. Vergil having the doppleganger ability and pulling it out in his fight? DmC. Dante's DLC costume?

Look at that and tell me that's not a reference to DmC Dante. His hair roots even show white, meaning he dyed his hair for this costume. You can even argue they took aspects of DmC Dante and applied it to Nero, with his new haircut and willingness to curse and use "fuck" in a series that never had that before as a slight nod to it.

They treated a game that openly disrespected the source material with as much class as you could. If you liked that game, they put some nods in there for you.
You know, the fact that some shit from DmC 2013 passed through to this game is kind of funny since the DMC fandom likes to pretend this game doesn't exist when they're not bashing it every chance they get. Hell, any idea from 2013 being used is enough to send some into a frothing rage (like the idea of Nero's mother being something like Kat). And then there's shit like this when it comes to AN ALTERNATE COSTUME. https://streamable.com/ek6v8h.

So the fact that this game that's seen as "a return to form" and "the best action game ever made" has stuff from what's seen as the thing that killed the franchise in an ugly and unceremonious way is pretty damn funny. Hell, this series didn't undergo the Star Wars prequels way of having an entry that 's so much worse that it caused people to actually appreciate some aspects of what they picked on to get a seat at the cool kids' table. And at the very least, this game is more remembered than Devil May Cry 2.
I still wish we had gotten a Bayo/Dante crossover game

Who knows? Maybe that's Bayonetta 3.
Will this satisfy you?
