I've heard it everywhere, from fat furfags with the tails tied to their denim jeans about how PS4 is better than Xbone, and from the mouthbreathing squeakers and CODfags about how Xbone dominates the competition. But what about the PC Master Race? Where do we come into the equation? Do we just let the peasantry bicker among themselves? Or are we Xbone supporters by proxy because Microsoft made our mighty rigs?

Console wars are like when two ant colonies fight each other over a spot of lawn. It goes unnoticed and unseen by true gamers and should be of no importance to the PC Master Race. But if we are to back any horse in the console race, it should be that Steambox thing that GabeN is shilling. It's the closest thing to a PC among the consoles, and if it does well, maybe it will please GabeN enough to grant us some more Steam sales.

The Console Wars is a dumb idea. It was dumb in the past, and it was dumb now. Just enjoy the systems you have and shut up about which one is better.

The console wars mattered for years, in the sense that your choice of console made a huge difference in your gaming experience. Choosing between a SNES or a Genesis led to a very different library of games available to you, likewise choosing between an N64 or PS1. The differences started to shrink after that, with the major competitors being remarkably similar by the time the PS2, Xbox, and Cube were fighting each other.

Nowadays, the vast majority of each library is multiplatform, the exclusive titles are so few, and the hardware is so functionally similar between the major players, that it really doesn't matter much if you get a Sony or Microsoft console*. If you're choosing between the two, you're more likely to make your decision based on factors OTHER than which console is "best", like do you want to have the same console as your friends, or do you prefer one online service over another?

I'd say the console wars have been over for at least a generation, possibly two or three. The console makers are going to have to adjust their strategies accordingly.





*Nintendo's still kind of an odd duck.

Consoles only matter to people without jobs. I remember caring about Sega vs Nintendo when I was a kid because my parents bought Nintendo shit since it was marketed better, I had no choice or control over what I got unless I was picking out a game to rent as a kid, so of course I feverishly defended Nintendo because it was what *I* had.

As soon as I got my first job I realized how retarded it was to be a fan of a company, because suddenly I could afford multiple devices. Even today, you can own an Xbone, PS4 and Wii-U for less than 1,000 dollars and enjoy all of them. You can built a modern above average gaming rig that will last you probably the next 3-4 years with less than 1,000 bucks. Who are these fucking people who don't have roughly 2,000 dollars available? Even with a shitty job you should be able to save that up relatively quickly if gaming is such a big hobby for you.

And that's assuming you have the time and desire to experience three consoles as well as a gaming PC, to enjoy all that these devices have to offer you would need to dedicate a hell of a lot of time to playing video games, which would be nightmarishly difficult to juggle if you work 40+ hours a week and also maintain somewhat of a social life.

I guess just stop being fucking poor or shut up if you are poor. The rest of the gaming community doesn't give a fuck. Also the PC master race argument is also fucking retarded, it is not difficult to build a PC, it isn't difficult to run a PC and it isn't that much more expensive to get into PC gaming than it is to get into console gaming. It's not the early 90s when people were still impressed by PCs and they seemed complex, it's just as easy and dumbed down to be a PC gamer these days as it is to be a console gamer. I say this as someone who plays 90 percent of his games on a PC, you have to be kind of a moron to think PC gaming is anything unique or complicated.

Ah, this brings back memories of Jay Geis a.k.a. TheGoldenKnight. The tin-plated dipshit was so proud of his A+ certification (which literally was just recognition of the fact he could slap components into a tower case and boot up the damn thing) and was so, so obsessed with the idea of building a computer using nothing but the most expensive things on the market like Titan graphics and some kind of complex liquid coolant system.

And yet he never, ever could beat a game without using godmode...when his internet card wasn't making the usual death gurgles to the point he had issues with Minecraft.

The console wars and the "PC gaming vs. console gaming" debate are by far the most detremental things happening to the gaming industry right now.

This petty rivalry is completely unnecessary, given today's climate. The console and PC fans need to ally with each other so that they can take down the freemium-based blight known as the mobile "games" market.

This war should be known as "Mobile gaming vs. Real gaming".
