The lockdown was bad.

You do not respond to a disease that does not instakill everyone who gets it by shutting the planet down. You respond by encouraging the vulnerable to self-isolate. The vulnerable are almost always the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. So, not a tough job.

You raise an interesting point though and there is a reason Trump demanded governors determine their own state's fate. He was in a no win situation. If you refuse to take drastic action and you are wrong you are screwed. If you take that action you are screwed. He Kirk'd the Kobayashi Maru problem by telling Govs to deal with it(which is actually how it should have worked anyway).
