Nice try, but my family emigrated to the USA back in the 1980s. If sand niggers ever got pampered in the USA, it damn sure didn't happen when I was a kid. It also certainly didn't happen for me in the 2010s. I had to earn my keep just as much as any other self-respecting American. What the fuck? Did you lose your fucking mind? Have you ever actually checked what the other immigrant groups went through? Which immigrant groups, exactly, have had it better than you have?

You arrived during an era with no major conflicts and you weren't pampered and treated well? You can vote, your language isn't practically criminalised, you haven't ended up in a camp or shot - and this wasn't even that long ago, the 1980s was a time when your "hard done to" family would have had to step over homeless men who lost their legs on D-Day.

How many of these hard-done-to Muslims were thrown at the front lines like the Irish and the Germans in the 1860s?

Infact could you do me a favour and name literally any groups who have had an easier time in the USA than the post-1970s wave? Just one, if you can.

The difference in that minor culture war is that it stayed somewhat minor, parents didn't give into children and agree to let them mutilate and kill themselves, and it faded away somewhat in the 2010s. I can remember moral outrage and concern; however, and even a few fox news segments on the disturbing new trend of kids cutting themselves and "what is this nation coming to".

I genuinely miss some aspects of the 2000s
It's difficult to talk about the 2000s without power leveling a bit because the bits that I do look back foundly are very personal but here is what I will say.
I miss my grandpa and the time we spent together.
My family was overall awesome even if we didn't have much.
I miss when the radio had a decent ratio of new good to bad songs. Music was somewhere 40% good, 30% Bad, and 30% Mediocre
I miss being a kid that while socially aware of what was going on that it was not so important to me and I didn't feel stress or depression because of it.
The Iraq and Afghan wars was largely a backdrop that while we were aware when we were kids it didn't seem to matter to us.
I miss the time before the woke culture but if I was to be honest you could really see bits and pieces of it already forming within the liberal Left during this time.
There's more to talk about but that's all that there is on my mind at the moment.

Kinda, the early years of 2010-2014 were pretty fun. Everything since 2015 has felt really bleak and soulless in a really weird way.

One of the most annoying things about 2010s was probably the pre-dashcon tumblr era. Anglophilia, superwholock, tumblr sexy men, colbert report, endless gif reactions, soft grunge, peoples weird hate boner for Mitt Romney over really mild things, Maclemore NOH8 straight allies, thinking liking pizza is a quirky personality trait, list goes on. Plenty of things are way worse now, but this era was still awful

What years specifically are you talking about? (I'm assuming 2010-2012 or 2013)

The early 2010s are so weird to look back on today because in many ways they were pretty lame and stupid as well and yet... and yet... they were still better than now and I find myself missing that era more and more.

Part of what makes any nostalgia for that era feel very weird to me though is even though it was now around a decade ago it all feels weirdly recent to me, it's hard to feel nostalgia for a time that feels recent compared to a time that does feel like a long time ago.

I did love pre-2010s internet though. I was on weeb sites like Gaia online and deviantart and watched edgy amvs. I also loved how lawless cons were around then (minus the wooden paddles) I've seen kids try to recreate that era with "animecore" and "webcore" but it's just sad.

I've noticed zoomers trying to revive 2000s trends as well and part of me loves to see it and part of me feels really weirded out by it.

I'll always deeply regret not making it out to a con during the lawless era.

There really was a weird magic to that year that I can't even really explain or understand, but nothing since has ever felt quite the same or quite as good as things were that year.

I think part of what was going on that year was there was a very deep seeded desire among people to make the world a better place, to get out of the muck of the post 9/11 era, Obama really cleverly rode that wave.

On a side note for October, 2007 is when I first read The Enigma of Amigara Fault, which is the Halloween theme background.

I don't even remember anything from that year except PG-13 Die Hard came out that summer. 2006 was a great time, though. I got my first laptop and was able to piggyback on my neighbor's wifi, actually paying for a porn subscription because Sammie Rhodes was new and I was in love with her.

I miss my Myspace account. It was filled with dumbass hot takes and I was friended with a bunch of people from work and school who I can't remember anymore. I tried logging in again after several years but the bastards wiped everything. Only Tom was still my friend. They didn't even have my widget from the Ron Paul revolution of 2008.

There were some truly ridiculous zero tolerance responses at other schools. Years after the fact i heard of a second grader that got suspended not long after the shooting for pointing a vaguely gun shaped chicken tender at the principal.

My parents always thought the zero tolerance stuff was bullshit in relation to self defense.
I was even taught that if I fought back against any of my bullies, even if I got suspended from school, I wouldn't get in trouble at home, in fact I'd get rewarded. (Again, only if it was self defense or standing up to someone who was weaker.)

Former never happened, the latter did happen but it was nothing physical most of the time.

I miss the late ‘90s. Gas was $0.99 a gallon, a Whopper cost a buck, and 8 quarters bought a pack of Luckies out of the cigarette machine at the grocery store.
