Okay, it's pretty much well-established that Borb were shitty parents and played a role in imperially fucking up Chris, but something that has been bugging me for a while is this. Does Barbara hate Chris?
First, let me preface this with saying that Borb were shitty parents, and there's something about Bob in particular that I need to get out of the way, and help set the scene.
Bob was a shitty parent, but unlike Barb, he actually tried to be a parent up to a point, He failed miserably due to age and being way behind the times when it came to knowledge of special ed, the internet, and mental health. While Bob wasn't a saint by any means, and he could've a done better job raising Chris than he did, I give him credit for trying. I do know for a fact that Bob tried to make Chris function by enrolling him in community college and making him get a job at Wendy's. After both fizzled out, Bob put Chris on the tugboat, and from my understanding, he did so because he thought Chris was a lost cause and gave up on him.
But what about Barb? It's very well apparent that Barb is a bit of a possessive bitch (I'm not trying to A-Log, but I can't think of any words to describe her) Her hoarding ruined the house and when Bob tried to fix it, she threw a fit. According to the CWCki, by the time Chris was a child, Bob slept in a different room than Barb, and I think that if Chris hadn't come along, they would have divorced.
According to a lot of people's theories, Barb sees Chris as a glorified pet and part of the hoard. Given the fact that she hardly ever lets him leave the house, except to get stuff for her, and that the Snorlacks video at McDonald's implies she has some contempt for Chris, or at least deep resentment, I'm beginning to think that Barb hates Chris and sees him as a mere animal to be leashed, especially after the 10/28/2011 incident (which was mostly her fault). Chris is very much depressed and Barb keeps him locked up in the house all day. It's sad really, and nobody should be treated like that. Not even Chris.
In all honesty, I feel bad for Chris. One parent gave up on him, and the other makes him miserable and may very well hate him.
