Does Chris have Oppositional Defiant Disorder? -

The CWCki mentioned Narcissistic Personality Disorder but did not mention Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I think Chris fits the criteria of Oppositional Defiant Disorder when you look at the symptoms in the link below.

You can grab a copy of any edition of the DSM, shut your eyes, open the book to a random page, poke that page with a finger, and land on a disorder that Chris is the living embodiment of.

I recall reading about him having some outbursts during his childhood/youth wherein he had to be physically restrained, but I always thought he was more or less compliant with adults/authority figures. Isn't the behavior attributed to ODD called/becomes something else once one reaches a certain age?

In any case, it's dangerous to try and pathologize anyone's behavior, especially in Chris's case. So, I'd say "no", unless someone can give me a good reason to think his behavior stems from anything other than his autism coupled with being used to getting his way.

He's not really oppositional or defiant though, he usually folds like a house of cards at the first sign of trouble. Like, take his mall escapades, he tends to just sullenly ignore the manajerks until he pushes them just a bit too far - at which point he runs. Things like CYHMH'ing the dean are the exception, not the rule.

Chris is just a little kid who occasionally stomps his foot and yells "NO!" at people in authority. So he has ODD just like a 2-year-old does. He's a brat, IOW

I think Oppositional Defiant Disorder is just overanalysis. It's a childhood disorder, and these make me feel uneasy, as it's normal to be a complete asshole as a kid or a teen. But assuming it's a proper disorder like narcissistic personality disorder, does Chris have it? Well, he certainly blames others, doesn't obey consensus-supported rules, he's spiteful, and is definitely angry and resentful of others. So Chris could probably be diagnosed with it, although I think Chris is just a massive asshole myself.

I think most, if not all, of Chris' problems can be summed up by the fact that he was raised by his parents to think he was super extra special, and when Reality slapped him with the cold, hard truth that he wasn't, he's thrown one big manbrat tantrum for the passed greater than 6 years, with small tantrums erupting over specific incidents.

He is Mount Chrisuvius. Sometimes he vents, and sometimes he erupts.
