In the past greater than triple decade, Barb and Bob Chandler brought a new life into the world despite their advanced ages. Their son grew up to be a lazy, angry, socially maladjusted idiot with the brain of a kindergartener, and for all intents and purposes Barb is still "raising" him as she deteriorates. I can't help but wonder if Borb had been better off as an elderly childless couple had they been more responsible. In the newest email leaks by Thetan, a friend of Chris' mentions "it could be your kid" who needs an extensive wiki about their online misdeeds removed from the web in the future. It's not very likely, but the thought got me wondering if any of you on these boards are less likely to start a family because of the possibility of creating an Autistic wonder like OPL. Personally I'm not planning on having children for a number of reasons, but I definitely wouldn't want to raise someone like Chris even if it did look a little like me. If you do want kids, how would you react to your child needing special care like Chris did (and never really got)? Anyone here have kids of their own? Do you worry they're a future LOLcow?

No.
It's not as if Chris was the product of excellent parenting and just happened to turn out like this.

No. I already have children and becoming a father is the most fulfilling thing that's ever happened to me. It's a lot of hard work but it's worth it.

Personally I no longer want to have kids, that was a thing I wanted to do when I was younger. I know myself enough now to know that maybe I woulnt be a good parent, even worst if at my age the chances of having a autistic or special needs child is highter.

If anything Chris only cemented my decision to avoid the risk of bringing more autism to this world.

Vor dem ersten Kinderschrein muss ich mich erstmal selbst befreien...

(but this has nothing to do with Chris)

I don't think I'll ever have kids but one of the reasons is because I don't think I could handle a child with special needs, including autism. However, this was before Chris.

I don't want children, but I knew I didn't want them before I even heard of Chris. However, even if I wanted one, I would not hesitate because of Chris. I know I would make a better mother than Barb, and that's not arrogance speaking, that's just a fact that 95% of women in the world would make better mothers than her.

So tell me, if one of your children began acting a fool (online or in public) and developed a reputation like Chris did, how would you handle it? Would you punish them, guide them, laugh at them like you laugh at Chris, or something else?
