I was talking to some stranger online an they told me how important it is that I vote and do my research on politics I told them that I don’t really care about politics then they went on about how people who don’t care or act like they are “too cool” for politics are empty stupid people I didn’t really argue with them on it because I didn’t really know what to say (I’m not good at arguing in general so I try to avoid it)

Of course I think it’s important to be aware of what’s happening around the world I atleast try to do that but then they started discussing identity politics (feminism,lgbt,blm) I told them I didn’t care about these things then they went on about how I’m secretly hiding “sinister opinions“ that I don’t want to share or I’m very ignorant and maybe that’s why I don’t care about these things.

I just want to do my own thing and spend time with my loved ones creating fun memories before we all inevitably die I personally can’t bring myself to give a fuck and I’m not an expert on these topics anyway, I don’t see the point in pandering to a bunch of strangers, walking on eggshells trying to please them it sounds miserable

Instead of keeping those conversations at the dinner table its now every damn day with everyone and I want no part of it. Therefore I stay away from it and isolate it to my own little bubble. If I do have a political conversation. I have it with a person where I know the conversation will progress. Even when we disagree we don't get caught up in the weeds of the conversation.

If you're referring to having no opinion, or being ignorant of broad political issues and unable to contribute to discussion thereof, then I would say almost certainly.

The players in politics change all the time, but the core lines of thought, methods of debate, and the broad workings of the various procedures remain fairly consistent. If you're ignorant of the system of politics in your country, then I'd say you need to remedy that. Not knowing who such-and-such a trade minister is? Yeah, that shit doesn't matter.

I do not think politics should ever be the core of someone's livelihood or identity. But I do think we should all be aware of what political forces are affecting our livelihoods.
