People can't seem to find enjoyment in media without trying to find some sort of philosophical meaning and thinking way too hard about it having some sort of meaning it doesn't have most of the time. It makes it hard to enjoy media without someone trying to convince me that some dumb TV show is actually a social commentary about racism or something, when in reality it's just dumb schlock that's funny. Why the hell do people have to do this and act like there's some sort of hidden meaning in media, when there wasn't really any to begin with?

I generally assume that the people making art are just as retarded as I am. With that in mind, some things are allegorical or have a deeper meaning or clever themes and what have you, but not everything does. Most stories are simple on their face, beginning, middle, end, protagonist, antagonist, not much changes in terms of formula. But you can do a lot with that formula, and that’s where complexity comes in.
And I love complexity, when it’s not forced in. If it feels natural, then I’m all for it. But not everything needs to be complex, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. However, I firmly believe that artist can unintentionally include deeper meanings that they just didn’t think of until it was finished.

Unfortunately it looks like the video got removed off youtube. It had like half a million hits (in only a couple of days too). The creator was going crazy deleting all comments that disagreed. I think he finally just pulled it himself.

At some point in the past 5-10 years, the whole concept of "nobody's interpretation of media and fiction is inherently better or more moral than everybody else's, no matter how batshit crazy, stupid, or nasty they may be" was very consciously forgotten and replaced by "this interpretation is the only correct one, and any who disagree are intellectually and morally flawed and need to be condemned" which was usually backed by various media people looking to cast themselves as exclusive arbiters of truth and morality who must be consulted and paid to impart their wisdom.

This is why the laissez faire viewpoint on sex, violence, obscenity, profanity and taboo breaking in media and internet 10 years ago has been largely replaced with strict puritanical rules of just what is and what is not allowed in fiction, since the correct and approved interpretation is now that all of these things cause real world harm to every imaginable minority demographic, and just who needs to be paid to for sensitivity/inclusivity proofreading to ensure correct politics as not doing so also causes real world harm to every imaginable minority demographic

Well I'd say every piece of media usually has a deeper meaning than just what you see on the screen, page, or whatever.

On the other hand some media is very shallow (which isnt a bad a thing btw) and I agree people care way to much about the presence of a underlying message.
