The only WAD I ever played the hell out of was "Barney DOOM" where it turned the demons into Barney the Dinosaur. Good times.

I'm actually pretty good friends with Mark. He's a really chill guy and actually pretty humble. The reason most people hate him was because of a remark he made towards a loser on the ZDoom forums who was claiming he was going to kill himself. He gave him sarcastic advice on how to properly kill himself. The community, the fucking PC police that they were, raged at him and were like "HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT?! WHAT IF HE ACTUALLY KILLS HIMSELF BLAH BLAH BLAH". He was then promptly banned from that forum and then banned on Doomworld despite the fact that he literally did nothing on there to warrant it.

It's amazing, the world we live in. If you're not nice to everybody all the time and don't put up with Tumblr faggots, then you get witch hunted.

I read most of what went down when that happened, and it looked to me like he utterly refused to apologize since he was being sarcastic to begin with, everyone else was pissing themselves over "oh shit, what happens if it gets out that someone in the Doom community wound up dead because we let another member egg them on to suicide", Mark didn't agree and thought they were being babies and refused to back down, and it all snowballed from there until he got thrown out.

As I pointed out earlier, the Doom community really is gunshy of encouraging edgelords since those types make bad modders and for even worse press (Columbine did the Doom community no favors and they had to live down false rumors about them encouraging other violent edgy assholes since), so it sounds like they assumed Mark was going Doomguy on them (being an unironic edgelord in dead seriousness), emotion trumped logic, and he wound up tossed out because he didn't see why they were reacting so badly.

Unlike Doomguy, who is an unironic edgy dumbass, sounds like Mark just didn't pick up on the fact no one else wasn't in on the joke (and didn't see what was supposed to be funny to start with) until too late, and by that time they declared him haram.

You can tell someone has paid attention in nuclear physics if they can tell you straight away that nuclear waste looks like the green slime in the DOOM game.

On a more serious note, nuclear waste actually sort-of does have a color -- fresh spent fuel that goes into the spent fuel pool creates a strong blue Cherenkov glow underwater, electromagnetic "sonic booms" from beta particles zipping faster than the speed of light in the medium water.

You're not wrong. He severely underestimated the reaction he would get and really just thought people would move on. Thankfully, he continues to work on Brutal Doom to this day. Regardless of if you personally like it or not, you can't deny that it must take a lot of guts to keep doing what you love despite people fucking with you.

To be fair, Sgt Mark's drama on the ZDoom forums wasn't the first time the Doom community had gotten mad at him. Before that, there was the incident when he wanted to use pictures of real life gore in Brutal Doom's graphics, and there was also the time when people found "nigger" in his code comments.

Bit more on topic- I don't mind the idea of humorous wads, but it helps if they're actually funny and well made (Reelism, for instance). I don't get how someone can find eye-gouging graphics and eardrum-bursting sound effects funny, especially more than once.

Actually, haven't kept up with Mark's shenanigans, but I kinda got the impression he was sort of mellowing down and improving his craft over time. I mean, I don't defend his past antics, but credit where credit is due (unless he's causing drama out of sight, but I haven't heard about it, feel free to correct me otherwise).

Now, Doomguy 2000, I remember seeing him saying some stupid things on the zdoom forums and publishing really crappy mods full of stolen/uncredited and lolrandom channer content and memes, but I never thought he'd achieve lolcowdom or that he was this spergy. Color me only very slightly impressed.
