Door locks/sensers -

Hello you fabulous folks. There's probably a better place to ask this, but I like you guys.

I'm not quite sure how to word what I want to ask, so I'll just ramble until I think I have given enough info.

I am looking for both a very hard to pick lock, and something that can record whether a door has been opened. The "senser" doesn't need any kind of alarm (in fact, I strongly prefer it doesn't have one) but it does need to have a system that I can check later that can tell me if the door has been opened. It would be even better if it could tell me what time it happened, but that isn't necessary.

This would be for an interior door, if that makes a difference. The person I am trying to keep out has some experience with lock-picking, so the lock is the more pressing concern.

Does anyone have any info on things like this? Or any ideas to use in lieu of it if such a thing doesn't exist for a use like this?

Thanks in advance, I love you all.

I know. I have some kind of anxiety when it comes to posting. Sometimes I type out whole posts, then just delete them. I don't know why.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, I'll look into it.
you seem pretty cool to me, hope to see you around

How much leeway do you have with modifying the door or the doorframe? $400 would get you a pretty decent electromagnetic lock that a gorilla would have a tough time prying open. Couple that with an RFID sensor near the door, and you're pretty good to go. If you don't have a fob, you're not getting in. The downside to that is that electromagnetic locks are always going to fail-safe if the power goes out.

As far as telling whether or not the door has been opened, you could spend a bunch of time and $ rigging up some type of sensor, or you can just go low-tech and get some cellophane tape and tape it to the top of the door and the bottom of the door-frame after you exit each time. It might take some experimenting with your door and frame but you can definitely get to the point where you'll absolutely know if that door's been opened.

A good intruder would know to look for the tape, though. Heck, I've never robbed a place in my life and even I know to look for it.

If you're being stalked by someone that badly, personally I'd move and not tell anyone where- even close friends who might be manipulated into telling secrets. Don't take any chances with your safety. And for God's sake, get a gun and done firearms training and be willing to use it. When seconds count, the police are only hours away.

This is an interior door though. It sounds like a bad roommate situation to me. The tape might be obvious, true, but really the idea is just that it doesn't take convoluted sensor setups to know if someone's opened a door since you closed it.

The more important question here is, what are you trying to hide?
