The idea behind this is that there is a chunk of the state -- usually called the Black Belt -- that is very black and very Democrat, and is also very very poor. Like hillbilly methhead third world shit in a bucket because you have no running water poor. And in rural Alabama counties (of any color) there tends to be only one license office in the whole county, a desk at the courthouse, and it's only open during weekdays.

So it's inconvenient to get a license/ID for the first time, because you have to get there, have $25 or whatever, and probably don't have any proof of who you are. On the other hand, Alabama cares less about that than most states (unless you pay extra for the federally compliant ID that is valid for domestic air travel), and once you have it you can renew by mail forever. (Eye tests for drivers? Fuck that, it might cost tax dollars.)

That's the theory, anyway.
So people cant just be mailed a form, fill out the form and mail the form back and get a Photo ID?

I don’t think anything can energize the black community to vote like a candidate who says slavery was when America was great. For all the right wingers scratching their heads over this loss, you put your eggs in a racist, child fucking basket. If you can’t see the issue there, you’re exceptionally exceptional.

Holy shittin' balls that's inefficient. That's third world level inefficient. Though 25 bucks does not sound a lot.

I mean that's putting the Balkans to shame bad. Looks like the US should put up more goverment offices and make MORE JOBS!
What he is leaving out is that the previous governor tried raising taxes to help pay for shit, and the Alabama Senate's response was this bullshit. The State Senate has been playing that game for years, they get pissy every time a governor tries to pay the states bills, and then run him the fuck out of the state.

lol obscenity @AnOminous was that during Alberto Gonzalez's tenure where he wasted a bunch of tax payer money going after extreme fetish porn?

How the fuck can't you have them? You go to the state's office, they issue you one. What, you can't get one unless you are white or some shit?

Its even more than that. The Supreme Court a long time ago said that the right to vote cannot be burdened or something. One such burden was a poll tax which during Jim Crow was used to keep black people from voting because they didnt have money. Requiring people to pay for a photo ID so they can vote is essentially a poll tax. And guess who that affects the most?

Also the logistics of getting a voter ID as @Captain Cockpunch said in some cases isnt easy. Its kind of along the same reason black people like early voting. People who work two jobs and have kids dont always have the time to go down to, in some cases, the only fucking place to get a voter ID in the county. Theres also people who can only use public transportation which in many cases is complete shit, may only run at certain times of the day and may cost money (and can also be considered a poll tax). Basically a persons economic status and transportation situation shouldnt prevent them from voting.

Theres also the case of the elderly. If they are ancient enough they may not have been issued a birth certificate or may have lost it due to various reasons including house fires. Some churches will bus entire nursing homes to go get photo IDs for thier tenants.

So people cant just be mailed a form, fill out the form and mail the form back and get a Photo ID?
lol as if Republicans would allow that. Usually Voter ID laws make you show up to a certain place in person. Whether its to suppress votes or they have a legit reason who knows. I personally dont understand how other countries make it so easy to vote yet we have all this in person bullshit.

This might be the most Vox Day thing Vox Day has ever posted.

This is a man who dubbed himself the Latin phrase for "Voice of God" and his blog a misspelling of Vox Populi, the "voice of the people".

His narcissism and autism are immeasurable.

That's some 3rd world statesmanship there. Also, I'm sorry, but if hoodrats can pay for the bling bling, 20 dollars for an ID that's good for years should really not be a giant monetary investment. The US is not Ethiopia, no matter what the UN says.

If you can't spare 20 dollars every ten years, than you are most likely someone who never worked and thus you shouldn't vote.

Nobody likes going to the DMV, and the idea that only black people are inconvenienced by it is completely bullshit. DMVs are usually open 9-5 and only on weekdays, which means everyone either has to take off work or waste an off day going there. You can go to any state's DMV website and it will tell you exactly what you need to bring with you to get an ID. Considering you need some form of ID for so many things besides voting, anyone motivated to do so will find a way to get one.

:powerlevel:I had gotten a new residency address card (secondary ID) the same way. Everybody does it. Off work day, 4 hours in the local DMV equivalent.:powerlevel:

But I guess Democrats think that all blacks are incapable of waiting for it because they can't bring a newspaper to read or something.

He didn't get indicted until 2007, so it might have started with Gonzalez in office, but by the time the case finished it was 2009, with Mukasey.

They're also often in utterly shitty locations that are an out of the way pain in the ass to get to, especially in areas with no public transportation.

Or they do the thing they did in my area, all the DMVs near public transportation don't do drivers licenses, only registrations and plates and stuff.

We're not talking about hoodrats here. Backwater Alabama might as well be a third-world nation. Decent jobs and infrastructure basically don't exist. Nobody's willing to pay for it. Unlike hoodrats, who arguably chose their exceptional lifestyle, these people did not.

Except none of this is true for most of the state. Back when Jackson Paving was in business, and they went out because the two guys at the top hated each other, but back when Jackson Paving was in business, Sand Mountain roads were kept new, and never had that shitty stripe patching. It received full and true repairs when needed.

Even then, we have decent roads, and updates and repairs happen at a regular but not inconvenient manner. Although certain bridges in certain remote areas, like a place called Double Bridges, was, after 30 years of being slated for a safety update, finally fucking fixed into a single bridge. It was kept waiting because traffic demands weren't heavy enough to give a shit.

The infrastructure outside of majority nigger areas is perfectly fine and quite serviceable.

The only real drop off of the last decade or two is rural medicine and hospital clinics, and the vast increase in illegal spics clogging up the hospitals in city limits, leading to a skyrocketing rate of CSections, not to mention the economic disadvantage of legal white resident having children vs welfare niggers and spics. It's a long and complicated story, but I seeth with real anger about it.

So he's still has not conceded and plans to file a lawsuit. THE SALT CONTINUES TO FLOW, MY CHILDREN.

---
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Republican Roy Moore filed a lawsuit to try to stop Alabama from certifying Democrat Doug Jones as the winner of the U.S. Senate race.

The court filing occurred about 14 hours ahead of Thursday's meeting of a state canvassing board to officially declare Jones the winner of the Dec. 12 special election. Jones defeated Moore by about 20,000 votes.

Moore's attorney wrote in the complaint filed late Wednesday that he believed there were irregularities during the election and said there should be a fraud investigation and eventually a new election.

...

Merrill said he has so far not found evidence of voter fraud, but that his office will investigate any complaint that Moore submits.

Moore has not conceded the race to Jones and has sent several fundraising emails to supporters asking for donations to investigate claims of voter fraud.

Jones and Moore were competing to fill the U.S. Senate seat that previously belonged to Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Moore's campaign was wounded by accusations against Moore of sexual misconduct involving teenage girls decades ago.
