The most common situation cops get shot at is a domestic violence call, it’s why they hate them. Domestic violence calls are unpredictable and have the greatest odds for cops getting hurt.

Most Common scenarios is Billy Joe is an poor, unstable drunk. He’s beating his wife who he’s convinced is cheating on him and is ready to blow. Cops show up and Billy Joe’s rage at the world and his family is taken out on them.

Not to mention they're on crazy Billy Joe's turf. In the field, they really only have to worry about weapons on the suspects person and possibly in a vehicle. At a house, though, weapons could be hidden anywhere.

Sad that this guy used guns. Cops have specialized training in Surviving Edged Weapons.

I half stopped at twitter responses, and I fully stopped at blue checkmarks. The vast majority of tweets and twitter profile are akin to the comment section on any youtube video. Do not bother. No matter the issue or the thing, its always a fucking shit show. Does not matter the controversy, the politics of whoever is involved, or the context.

15% of twitter accounts are fake or bots (last I checked), and many of the big e celebs of twitter bought followers. Twitter by design is not good at allowing any sort of nuance or actual conversation it really does encourage over the top one off statements for everything. It produces endless amounts of half baked hot takes™ and getting your word out first so you get the most up boats and retweets.

tl;dr Twitter a shit no matter what the issue generally is and all it does is encourage feedback loops, hot takes™ and shit conversation.

Two civilians also were shot and the suspect was shot and killed later by police, Sheriff Tony Spurlock said.

Deputy Zackari Parrish, 29, was killed. The four injured officers are in stable condition, Spurlock told reporters.

Spurlock said the suspect, who was not identified, had barricaded himself in a bedroom and had been talking with officers before he suddenly opened fire with a rifle, hitting four deputies in the apartment.

"There were well over 100 rounds fired ... from the suspect," Spurlock said

The suspect's roommate, who was home, was not wounded. The two injured citizens apparently were not in the apartment.

Spurlock said the suspect has had previous contact with law enforcement "throughout the metro area," but has no criminal history.

There was a noise complaint call about 1:30 a.m., but when deputies arrived there was no noise, Spurlock said.
The second call came in as a domestic disturbance, and deputies entered the apartment. During discussions with the suspect and his male roommate about the noise, the shooter slipped into a bedroom.

"They all went down within almost seconds of each other so it was more of an ambush type of attack on our officers," Spurlock said.
The suspect was killed almost two hours later during a shootout with a tactical team, the sheriff said.

This leads me to a bit of a theory, though it's not perfect.

It sounds like the domestic call may have been a trap placed by the shooter so he could get his targets. This was definitely pre-planned to be carried out on the officers. Nobody who wasn't planning premeditated murder on multiple officers would fire as many rounds or act the way described above.
