In a nutshell, It’s being male that is the advantage. T is a marker for being male, not the sole driver in itself. It’s disingenuous to take a male who has had his male physiology shaped by his male genetics his whole life which have sculpted his body structure into a man’s, then lower his T.

It’s a bit like saying that scaffolding is what makes a building, and now the scaffolding is gone it’s not a building any more. The scaffolding was there and it built the building. Taking it away after the building is built does nothing to alter the building,l.

It’s also worth saying that even males with TOTAL androgen insensitivity, who’ve never been able to use a single molecule of T are still closer to expected male height than female (reference for this a while back in one of my posts) so there are other bio factors at play.

It’s being male that’s the advantage. Lowering testosterone in an adult does diddly squat to remove male advantage. Adding it in certainly boosts performance but again it’s a secondary marker for SEX.

It’s sex that’s the divider. No one can change sex. The official bodies should stop fucking around with T levels as a denoted of sex and just use sex itself (and T levels within each sex.)

As a layman without a hard science background, my question upon reading this is: then why is testosterone a banned substance for both men and women?

Well, no one seriously questions the notion that adding T will increase performance in a specific individual (barring weird genetic conditions). Even Rhys (wrongly) makes a distinction between "endogenous" and "exogenous" testosterone, so that he can rule the latter out-of-bounds.

The point that's being used to obfuscate things is that for any specific level of testosterone you might measure in an individual, they could have that level for a variety of medical or non-medical reasons, and depending on what else is in their genetic makeup, they might make use of that testosterone to different extents. Some of these combinations of conditions result in an individual who should be considered "an eligible female athlete" and some don't, but in principle you can't tell which you're dealing with just by looking at one number from a blood test.
From there it's just a short leap to saying "I guess that means let anyone in regardless of T level". Which is precisely the conclusion some people want.

No one's accusing Rhys (or anyone) of trooning out, changing his birth certificate, lopping off his wiener, etc. for the sole purpose of winning $85 at some splintery velodrome in rural Montana. Unfairly beating women at sports is just an unusually visible and egregious consequence of troonery. There is also the case of Andraya Yearwood, who """transitioned""" in order to beat girls at track events, and didn't have to take hormones or change his birth certificate or anything. Men who point out that they'd easily be able to beat women at sports if they transitioned are not wrong: they're trying to point out that men are much better than women at sports.

It reminds me of troon apologists who say, "No man would go through all the hardship and discrimination of trooning out just to pee in the girls' bathroom!!!" Perhaps not, but increased access to women, including in bathrooms, is absolutely a factor in AGPs' urge to transition.

Most men wouldn’t be as unpleasant as Rhys is, purely out of politeness. Few would be sociopathic enough to take open pleasure in the death of someone whose only “crime” was saying mean things. I'll have to disagree here, because, while people generally do have a sense of honor, a lot of them still cheat, and it only takes one mildly athletic drive-by opportunist to beat women in anything except horse riding, dog sledding, and ultra marathons.

Mass cheating is happening during amateur marathons, so much that cheater hunters mostly stopped going for private cheaters and only expose those who actively seek to gain tangible advantage (such as prizes or praise) over other runners.

Rather, I think, the media, athletics, consumer economics, and politics are all structured in a way to discourage that kind of cheating by non-degenerates in professional sports. A non-woke cheater in a professional competition will need an interested party to both support the attempt and provide a reward commensurate with giving up on a first-world identity for the rest of one's life.
