Anyway, a question for people more familiar with academia: Rhys is only teaching two sections of Intro to Philosophy this semester. Is it normal that he's not teaching any upper-level courses or seminars relevant to his area of expertise? Is he likely to be advising graduate students right now, or doing anything else at CoC besides these two classes? He used to teach upper-level courses and seminars in past semesters. Two entry-level classes seems like the absolute bare minimum.

Anyway, for once the good doctor has a legitimate grievance: people do just read the title of his book and assume that it's a justification for his public behavior. I've harped on this before, but it's not true: the title is clickbait, and his book is pretty standard turn-the-crank academic philosophizing. Because he wrote the book (i.e. his dissertation) for an audience that would actually scrutinize it, he was on his best behavior: citing actual philosophers rather than bloggers, spell-checking, using correct formatting, and making arguments that aren't patently absurd.
It's quite obvious that the real reason he canned the second book is because it's too much work to adhere to professional standards when you can do just as well without them.

Is he likely to be advising graduate students right now, or doing anything else at CoC besides these two classes?

In theory, in addition to teaching he is supposed to be advising students, researching and publishing in his academic area, and serving on college committees to keep the place running.

This shit infuriates me. I remember reading a glowing article about a construction troon who is taking advantage of the same women's business certification. Doesn't appear to be any grad programs in philosophy at CofC, so no students to supervise. Not surprising for a smaller school, but it does remove one area of potential service he'd be doing.

Anyway: yes, I find it odd that someone's first post-tenure semester has him only teaching two intro classes. If he'd gone off to be on sabbatical for a semester/the year, totally normal. If he'd helped cover intro courses while also teaching in his area of interest, totally normal. But to only do two intro classes and no upper-division cores/electives in his fields of focus is odd to me.

It's not, like, reality-breaking or anything. But it is odd.
