I think this one hit him particularly hard. It is from a MAN. He hasn't been the least bit concerned about TERFs getting him fired, because they are just women, after all. Because here I see Mckinnon writes articles and books to push his ideology under the guise of "ethical research" but it would be wrong to expect philosophers, Rhys or not, to socially dictate what is good or bad - since it's based on paragdigms and the practical is often not the ethical (put very roughly, like how a philosopher who sees ecology as very important could say it's better to kill off people since they destroy nature by existing, etc, or like everything Rhys talks about, if society accepted that, it'd go to shit pretty quick.)

The author took issue that some philosophers have equated gender with race, and have argued that if one can change his gender one can change his race too. The author thinks such reasoning is transphobic, while Rhys uses precisely this line of thinking -- because one can change which race one prefers to fuck, he can change which junk one prefers to fuck too -- to justify Peak Trans.

Reading that citation and beyond it seems that the unexamined premise of this whole thing Rhys is pointing to in order to salvage his argument is that it sets up a structure of: Discrimination is wrong. This is discrimination, therefore, it is wrong.

I'm not learned enough to know but I strongly suspect they, and Rhys, subscribe entirely to arguments like Marcuse's repressive tolerance in which being tolerant against intolerant viewpoints will only serve to reward intolerance. Thus, discrimination against whatever "institutional power" you want to look at: whites, males, Trump supporters, the Kiwi Farms, TERFs, lesbians who refuse girldick, etc. is not inherently wrong. Which means that even they don't support their lone unexamined premise. It's personal preferences masquerading as universal ethics.
