It would be terrific if a woman who finishes behind RM got up on the podium waving her own flag with a female symbol, just to see how this gets handled if they both have a flag. But it's such a risk for the female athlete to take, there's no blaming any woman who feels she can't make a statement like that, especially during the event itself. It might work out better for female athletes who want to continue competing if they voice their criticisms from home, once the competition is over. Amazon prime video just acquired Futurama a little while ago, so I watched a couple of episodes this weekend and it occurred to me that the episode Bend Her was made in 2002.

Less than 20 years ago the premise that a man would have an overwhelming advantage if they competed in women's sports was so universally accepted that you could fashion a 20 minute joke around it. I imagine if someone tried the same thing today, the REEEEing would be heard from space.
