There's more than one kind of panic pendant. There's the ones for old people that direct the police to call you, but it looks like he's got one of the next-gen kind that are meant to help women get home safely. You can program whoever's phone number into it. It's got GPS. When you activate it, the person whose number you programed in gets a text message with a link to a map so they can see where you are and get help if you need it, without you having to pick up your phone and dial for help. They seem kind of pointless to me. The thought is there but let's say you feel someone is following you and give it the old tap-a-roonie. It sends a text message to your emergency contact. You're relying on someone else to be at their phone and not ignore a text message ding and actually click through to the map and be able to assess with no other details whether you're in danger or you accidentally hit it because you're jugging a purse, a latte, your phone, the dog's leash and your keys... If anything I think they give a false sense of security to women who are potentially in real danger. But hurrs the thing. Those women are in danger from men who feel entitled to them, who know they are more powerful than them, who follow them, rape them, murder them at alarming rates. The reason transgender people get murdered is almost always because they are sex workers or it's a domestic situation with their male lover; men murder them. Oh The exceptional individual who wrote this article legitimately thought including those images of McKinnon and Mouncey when you're trying to push the idea that trans women have no physical advantages over real women was a good idea.

The problems of women in sports used to be that we often didn't have the right to compete to begin with (still a problem in some countries), now we're being told that if we want to participate in sports we must compete with men in cases where we shouldn't have to AND told to accept it unless we want to be called bigoted transphobes.

The article writer also made sure to include that poll which was conducted in September and which showed that "80 % of women think trans women should have the same rights as other women", despite the fact that the question was purposefully vague and misleading. Yeah, I think most people would agree that transexuals should have the same access to things like education as everybody else. Now try asking these women if they think trans women – regardless of whether they've gone through SRS or not – should be able to compete in women's sports, be naked in women's locker rooms and show off their phallus, be in women's prisons, harass lesbians who aren't interested in their girl dick, insist that they are no different from actual women and be misogynistic shitbags.
