The aim is to review (and laugh at) Pierce as an individual. It is not concerned with the politics of race relations, but rather the single-mindedly autistic zeal with which William Pierce pursued this interest. To that end, this thread is split into three sections exploring the works & legacy of Pierce: I. The Turner Diaries (and Hunter.) II. The National Alliance. And III. Pierce's ongoing influence today. In this arrangement, we will explore the novel that catapulted Pierce's infamy, his life (which is inseparable from The National Alliance) and his lasting impact on America's ultra-right today.
I. The Turner Diarrheas (and Hunter.)
The infamy of William Pierce is seconded only to his literary works of fiction; namely The Turner Diaries and Hunter, both of which he had written under the pseudonym of Andrew McDonald. Audio books are available here and here, respectively. The Turner Diaries is particularly well known because pieces of it were found to be in possession by Timothy McVeigh, whom is famed for the Oklahoma City bombings. In The Turner Diaries, the protagonist (Turner) is a member of an ultra-nationalist secessionist group situated in Washington DC., which incites a bloody revolution against the United States and its ((Jew))-controlled government. Throughout the novel, the character of Turner commits many atrocities, including terrorism and racially-motived murder. The protagonist's actions are all symptomatic of hiscult group's racial hubris, which is to create a white-only ethno-state. It is here that the lolcow's extraordinarily exceptional extremism manifests itself with full eccentric splendor.
Upon seizing lands in California (in order to secure an idealized white ethno-state) Turner's organization (and, by implication, Pierce's romanticized version of the National Alliance) does the following:

Bob Mathews and The Order.
In 1984, a man named Bob Mathews, having been inspired by The Turner Diaries, organized his own group "The Order" after an organization sharing the same name in Pierce's novel. Bob's group was all committed to armed thefts of armored cars with the end-goal of redistributing the stolen money into organizations similar the National Alliance. In total, their robberies amount to +/- 4.000.000 USD. Only a quarter were ever recovered. Whilst it is suspected that Pierce had received some of that money, this was never proven. In any case, The Order got busted in the end. And although Bob Mathews put an epic last stand, he was finally killed during a shoot-out with federal agents. His actions had the National Alliance membership decline in the 1980's, before regaining traction in the mid. of 1990's.

Much less famous (yet just as eccentric) is Pierce's Hunter, whom he had dedicated to Joseph Paul Franklin, a notorious serial killer who murdered 22 people.
Hunter is a lone-wolf take on a similar premise, wherein its protagonist; Oscar Yeager, is a serial killer whom murders interracial couples to defy what he views (and the book enthusiastically vindicates) as an attempt by the media and the US government to promote race mixing. Whilst way more pensive than its precursor, the book liberally endorses conspiracy theories and a very romanticized (if not endorsing) view of violence so as long as it is a means to an end. Pierce's hate-boner for race-mixing is a bucket of tard-cum of its own. In Chapter 16 of Professor Robert S. Griffin's biography on Pierce, the latter remarks (whilst discussing Oscar Yeager) that, prior to moving to West Virginia, he was doing some "crazy things" for which he "would have gotten (Pierce) in jail for the rest of (his) life".
Although this isn't further explored by Griffin, it is not unreasonable to speculate that Pierce may have indulged in gratuitous violence (if not murder) whilst living in Washington D.C. (Nevertheless, our Pierce insisted that whatever he'd done is not comparable to Oscar Yeager's deeds.) At the same time Pierce reportedly likely shot a fucking dog, so his capacity for violence is not to be understated. On that high note, we shall now move to exploring Pierce's autistic chronicles in Hillsboro, West Virginia. It was there that he and his organization; the National Alliance, was at the peak of its strength, as was Pierce's notoriety. Moving far, far away from soul-crushing combustibles of rootless cosmopolitans and Blacks, William Pierce settled on living in a secluded dumpster to forward the cause of white nationalism. II. William Pierce's The National Alliance. (Or-a-race-into-madness.)
So far we have taken glimpses into Pierce's soul through his literary writings. We have also touched upon the fact that he had moved from Washington D.C. to Hillsboro, West Virginia, where he would almost single-handedly coordinate National Alliance's efforts to try and bring white nationalism into the mainstream. But before visiting Pierce's former residence, I invite the reader to picture oneself in the following scenario: You are an assistant professor at an esteemed university, with a promising career and life at hand. Would you forsake all that, for your hatred of Blacks and Jewish conspiracy theories -- Abandoning your hard-earned future on a whim to join the likes of George Lincoln Rockwell, to wind up in a secluded place almost entirely isolated from society? Because William Pierce did just that. He did it hard. So hard, in fact, that he winded up landing into the heap of monstrosity that we are now to see down below.

This was not one of the cases where the outside looks are deceiving. Though at its peak the National Alliance had enjoyed a booming membership of approx. 2000 persons with an estimated 1.000.000 annual USD income (in addition to having up to 17 full-time employees), the Hillsboro Headquarters itself was a very poorly conceived accommodation. For one, the nearest store from the headquarters was 30 miles away. The construction itself was hazardous, including structurally-related problems and terrible plumbing. But the biggest problems correlating with shit stem from Alliance's activities in this architecture.

The world "Cosmotheism" is an older version of "panentheism" (In which everything in the world is part of God, yet God is greater than the sum of its parts.) Pierce utilized it establish the Cosmo-theist church in Hillsboro; meshing it with concepts like Man and Superman as well as Social Darwinism. Regardless of his sincerity on the matter, The National Alliance had tried (and failed) to exempt parts of the compound from taxes on the grounds that it was being utilized for religious purposes.

According to Robert S. Griffin, when Pierce's secretary remarked to Pierce that he would simply throw her out to the streets if her medical conditioning deteriorated, Pierce simply replied that he would do what is best for the Alliance (page 151.)
Pierce's exceptional takes as a radio host.
Ever the proud connoisseur of hate, Pierce would frequently launch tirades from Hillsboro using Alliance's radio program, American Dissident Voices. Lambasting Black Haitians, prepping incels that feminism is literally white genocide, and berating the Jews for every problem under the Aryan sun. Warning: A weak grasp of history, bombastic rhetoric and old-man-shouting-at-the-sky materials. The sheer quantity of these hot takes is virtually endless. Video Game shenanigans.
Another, albeit less-known feat of the National Alliance was having Resistance Records (Owned by Resistance LLC) release the video-game Ethnic Cleansing (2002), wherein you assume the role of an extremist in a FPS, tasked with shooting up Blacks & minorities. William Pierce and the National Alliance emblem (Life Rune) are prominently featured throughout the gameplay as a propaganda tool.

Distributing Black metal to save the white race.
Resistance Records (also owned by the Canada-based Resistance LLC, whose site ceased to function in 2019), distributed Black Metal and had owned various subsidiaries Cymophane Records and Unholy records, which wew used by The National Alliance as a front to get Burzum albums into the United States. George Burdi, famous for creating the skinhead band RaHoWa (now a reformed nazi), was also closely tied to this activity. A large segment of the listeners were poor and disenfranchised white folks. A fact made all the more ironic by the next section.
From racism in between groups to eugenics within groups.
The leadership conference mentioned in Griffin's Fame of a Dead Man's Deeds highlights Pierce's elitist disdain for the downtrodden and wretched members of his own organization, calling out groups such as skinheads "losers" and arguing for the inclusion of educated, white-collar persons as opposed to those whom ultra-nationalist groups tend to attract. Anyway... Towards the end of his life Pierce proved to be a classist as well as a racist. A fact almost always seemingly omitted (or unknown) by many adherents of the new far-right movements who have an amicable view towards Pierce himself.

The death of Dr. William Luther Pierce and the immediate decline of The National Alliance.
Dr. William Luther Pierce died in 2002 from cancer, aged 68. The National Alliance started in-fighting for leadership control immediately after his passing. On page 455 of Pierce's biography The Fame of a Dead Man's Deeds, Professor Griffin remarks that Pierce is not truly concerned about the fate of the National Alliance beyond his own demise inasmuch as the reputation he had accrued during his life (hence the chosen title of Griffin's book.) Thence The National Alliance could be viewed as an extension & ego project of a single man as opposed to an organization in of itself.
NOTE: As of 2020, the organization is a shadow of the shadow that was once its former self. The membership has declined drastically, and those who had assumed the mantle of leadership are worthy of their own cow threads. Case in point: Eric Joseph Gliebe "The Aryan Barbarian", a semi-pro wrestler who had featured his Playboy model wife; Erika Gliebe, on the Resistance front cover magazine as an attempt to gain a higher recruitment rate. Also was directly responsible for the sale of the Hillsboro property in 2013, which spelled the end of William Pierce's National Alliance as a membership-based group. The same could be said of Kevin Alfred Strom; Gliebe's arch-nemesis and creator of the seditionist The National Vanguard, whom in 2008 was sentenced to 23 months in prison for the possession of child pornography (his defense was hilariously terrible, and the judge's riposte all the morse hilarious for it.) Served only four months though, and returned to his organization in 2012.

III. Pierce's legacy.
Pierce and the modern Alt-Right.
Many of Pierce's ideals have inspired the modern Alt-Right. Him and his landmark work; The Turner Diaries, is often perceived as a conduit for over two hundred racially-motivated crimes, and has been featured prominently, along with other notorious Neo-Nazi-related events and movements, as a root cause for the rise of the Alt-Right.
National Alliance and the murder of a British MP, Joe Cox.
On 16 June 2016, at the height of Brexit drama in the UK, Joe Cox; a Labour party Member of Parliament, was murdered by Thomas Alexander Mair. Thomas Mair was subsequently found to have links with the now-defunct National Alliance through its successor, the National Vanguard.

Perhaps the most eccentric and almost-deified influence of William Pierce has been his recurrent appearance on the relatively popular far-right "satire" show, Murdoch Murdoch. IV. Conclusion.
At his core, Dr. William Luther Pierce was a nerd and a lovechild of the Dunning-Kruger effect. By his own admission, he regretted having not read into history or social studies during his time at the university (see Griffin's biography.) A lot of his visceral hatred towards ethnic minorities (and the exculpation of Hitler's atrocities) comes from an honest, albeit ignorant, point of view. His works had influenced real-life crimes and in many ways are partly the source of the modern far-right dissent. His obsession with the Blacks, race-mixing and Jews are not only exceptional, but also pathological. And that eccentricity is what ultimately has me conclude that he merits his own thread on Kiwifarms.

IV. Conclusion.
At his core, Dr. William Luther Pierce was a nerd and a lovechild of the Dunning-Kruger effect. By his own admission, he regretted having not read into history or social studies during his time at the university (see Griffin's biography.) A lot of his visceral hatred towards ethnic minorities (and the exculpation of Hitler's atrocities) comes from an honest, albeit ignorant, point of view. His works had influenced real-life crimes and in many ways are partly the source of the modern far-right dissent. His obsession with the Blacks, race-mixing and Jews are not only exceptional, but also pathological. And that eccentricity is what ultimately has me conclude that he merits his own thread on Kiwifarms.
