So even if Sega said "Don't worry. We're introducing a new patch that will give you the option of Sonic having his old arm color" Chris would still be angry because the data on the PHYSICAL discs and cartridges would not have been changed.

I'm going to call bullshit on that. I think if they added a patch that let you play as a classic Sonic model he'd jump all over it while scowling at the box art and any pre-rendered cut scenes
