Effects of Post-Barb Isolation -

It's been theorized that Chris's overall social skills have declined since his days of regular social functioning at Manchester High School, and to a lesser degree, PVCC. (Compare his tone and mannerisms in Song of Christian and one of the recent Tomgirl vids) This has no doubt gotten worse over the years due to his banishment from several public places, his withdrawal from the internet, and the death of Bob.

There's been a million threads about this, but sooner or later, OPL is going to be all alone in 14BC, banned from public places, banned from Church, his Facebook asspat squad getting tired of his bullshit and moving on with their happy successful lives. He'll be completely isolated, too old for gainful employment. As he rapidly ages due to his sloven lifestyle, people will have less and less sympathy for him, looking down on him as that dirty old psycho.

Prolonged extreme isolation of the kind Chris will soon endure has been scientifically proven to drive even the sanest among us batshit crazy. As in, hallucinations, Time Cube-level delusions... all manner of batshittery. It's probably why Barb is so crazy with her hoarding and Greene County conspiracies. With the death of the only remote voice of reason in la Casa de Chandler, she and Chris are mutually trapped in their own, pitiful echo chamber where the crazy self-perpetuates. Chris really believed he was skinny, young, and beautiful based on parental coddling... he thought he had a billion fans, he thought his art was professional-quality. When Barb dies off, we can only imagine the kind of madness that will befall Chris. When vidya and Family Guy become his only indirect exposure to the outside world, how low will Chris descend?

I predict lapses into slumber, stress-sighing, delusional dreams, more Sonichu adventures drawn in secret, depicting the gruesome deaths of old foes he hasn't seen in years. He'll completely lose his mind, his ability to communicate and behave like a normal human being. All those years of learning to talk will go to waste. Even before Bob died, Chris was dressing up like a woman and going on dates with blowup dolls out of a delusion that a beautiful young nymph will come along and serve him for the rest of his life... all out of pity for this sad, lonely tomgirl with rage. I mean, he wears a bra! He understands me as more than a sexual object... maybe. As Vivian predicted, Chris is failling down further and further in a downward spiral. The best years of his life are long gone. Much to the delight of A-Logs, misery and death loom for our Pet Lolcow.

On the bright side, do you think he'll start making bizarre videos again to escape his extreme solitary confinement to the hoard?

Of course not. We can dream, though...

What do you guys think will result from such loneliness?

Does he even still talk to Sonichu and Rosechu? I only remember that one mailbag and the Mary Lee Walsh meeting. He will never be truly alone, he has his characters and his toon world.

I've definitely noticed the degradation in his social and verbal skills, and that's saying a lot since he didn't have much of either to begin with. Barb is a seriously damaged individual, and I actually worry quite a bit about Chris' well-being at this stage in his life. He is a huge lolcow that I have received hours of enjoyment from, but he's still a human, and he needs some stability that Borb could never provide.

Without Barb, he's able to socialize. Barb's the only one keeping him from doing that right now.

Nah, there are game contests and shit he'd go to if Barb wasn't around.

Not to be morbid or cruel, but it sounds like Barbs death would come as a blessing then. He'd be able to get out and socialize (well something that passes for socializing) and maybe make a "friend" or two (basically someone who won't automatically reject him on first sight/smell). That would probably do wonders for him.

Oh no doubt. But how social would he be at these social events? Sure he'll get out and be around people, but how much would he interact?

I would certainly hope he'd get some sort of help after Barb dies. Too bad if he gets anything it'll be more of Rocky's coddling.

Hmm, I wonder if Rocky might be his replacement Barb.

Once Barb is gone he might go to some game meetups. He might find people who like him, or at least tolerate him, and have a bit of a social life.

He might start his love quest again and hilarity will ensue as Chris becomes a nuisance to security and potential boyfriend-free girls.

A decent amount. There's a big difference between social interaction among normal people at, say, mcdonalds and Chris socializing with neckbeards at a game convention.

Do you think he would try to travel out of state to conventions? I recall he tried once but Barb's threats stopped him. I somewhat want him to at least see more of the world beyond Virginia, even if it is like the next state over.

One day, Barb dies in her little niche in the hoard.

Not wanting to deal with it, Chris fills the room with junk and seals it off from the rest of the house. She becomes just another of the many bad odors found at 14BC.

The death unreported, Barb's retirement and social security keep coming in. Donning tom-girl attire, and with Barb's ID, Chris cashes the checks, along with his own :tugboat: he can now buy all the games, toys and bras he pleases.

After years of neglect, the house starts falling apart. Air conditioner stops working, Chris buys the cheapest window unit he can find and tries to keep one room liveable. A hole in the roof is ignored, the affected room closed off and left to the elements. The remaining space slowly fills with McDonald's wrappers and vermin.

One day, after the mail box is stuffed to the limit with unpaid bills, local hooligans throw rocks through the windows of the house they assume has been abandoned for years. Eventually, some official comes to investigate only because the taxes on the property haven't been paid. The place is condemned. Venturing inside, 2 bodies and a dozen feral cats are found.

Possibly, but he'd probably need someone to suggest the idea to him and hold his hand in doing it.

I have to be honest I don't see him interacting at cons that much. At least not any more than necessary (talking to vendors, maybe asking questions at a panel). While I see Marvin's point, and agree to an extent, I don't necessarily see it as all that significant. Although I guess interacting in general is a lot more than not at all so there's that.

Anime cons could be the promised land for Chris. I went to one a few years ago and weird guys stood around holding "hug me" signs like it was a normal thing.

in related news I've never gone to another anime con

I don't see him interacting with other people or making friends at cons either, but I think it'll do wonders for Chris' mood. Being alone amidst a crowd of people surrounded by things he loves (cartoons and toys) is infinitely better than being alone with just Barb surrounded by trash.

I think if Chris went to an anime con, there were definitely be people who would know exactly who he was, and it would prove embarrassing for him.

Any con with a core of nerds will know exactly who he is. We've mentioned it before; he should capitalize on this and charge, like, $5 for an autograph or something. Seriously. Hell, I'd pay that. Or take Bob's LP collection to sell. How many nerds would like to own a piece of the Lumberjack's rare LP collection? I'd buy a few albums just because I'm a bit of a Bob fan.

If he was smart, and he's not, it would be a good way to make some cash while working with his infamy. Embrace it, sign his name and write :julay: underneath. Sell copies of Sonichu for a few bucks. He could make a living, not a great one, but one. Fuck, he could probably get some cons to pay him to show up. Happens all the time with z-grade celebs. Including way more boring internet famous people than Chris.

I wasn't thinking conventions as much as specifically game contests, like pokemon or whatever bullshit he'd get into. He went to madicon earlier this year and from what I could tell, he mostly just followed.* I would think he'd talk more if he was playing games.

*Although, as Donald Duck pointed out, even just following did wonders for his mood.
