So who is Elly Pamatong? He is a three-time nuisance candidate with a history of ludicrous attempts at running for the highest position in office. He founded a cult, aptly named "Bulwark of Bhathala", in an attempt to legitimize his so-called claim that he is the "President" of the Philippines, "by operation of law"; when in fact no one elected him because he was already a nuisance candidate. He also a leader of the so-called far-right militia "United States Allied Freedom Fighters of the East", whose motive is to spread false claims that Filipinos are still "American citizens" (in fact, the Philippines is no longer a U.S. colony, so there is no need to claim American citizenship). His gain to infamy started when he first handcuffed himself to the gates of the Commission on Elections office after his first failed attempt at running for President. Not satisfied, he employed his loyalists to scatter caltrops along the major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, resulting in his arrest. His second attempt failed, and he resorted to calling the election body "thieves", which led them to cite him in contempt of court. Pamatong clearly is a rabid Sinophobe, and has burned Chinese flags as a protest against national sovereignty. Moreover, his Sinophobia drove him into insane levels when he "declared war against China" and bragged that he would "wipe them out". This led to the attempt firebombing of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport back in 2014, and this time Pamatong was arrested for masterminding the plot. Pamatong ran for President for the third time, but was again branded by the election body as a nuisance candidate. Angered by this, he tried to file a disqualification case against Rodrigo Duterte (who would later become President of the Republic of the Philippines), alleging that his certificate of candidacy was not approved and that he should be disqualified for whatever Pamatong claims kept him for running for President. As a result, the DQ case was junked, angering Pamatong even more, and led him to declare himself "President" of the so-called "Radical Democratic Caretaker Government" of the Philippines. In 2017, self-proclaimed "President" Pamatong got a rude awakening when his headquarters were raided by the cops, who found a stash of weapons. In January 2019, Pamatong made his anger at Malaysia visible by burning the Malaysian flag, which sparked outrage from the Malaysian government and embarassment from its Philippine counterpart.
