im not going to point out every single time kouma gives an excuse for their actions and then follows it with "bUt ThaT's No ExCuSe" because its pretty obvious every time it happens that they are, indeed, excuses.

I knew the screaming and the death implications would bother some people, so I thought putting 18+ in the title and general trigger warnings in the description would suffice. I was not aware of the impact it would have on many people and how uncomfortable and awful it would make them feel.

the "trigger warnings" was this shitty general statement right here, which didn't include the verbal abuse, physical abuse shown on screen, etc:

which most warriors videos have as a general warning. aka, most would see this ""trigger warning"" as a general rule of thumb and it would not have alerted anyone to the fact that this call/video was extremely disturbing.

When I got negative feedback on the MAP I was in a terrible mood for it, so I posted a very sarcastic and rude statement about how I didn’t care that the song was about abuse. I don’t remember the entire statement so correct me if I’m wrong, but as a summary I was just rude and cold and inconsiderate about how others felt.

Honestly, the thing that's pretty hilarious regarding the reaction to the MAP is that... It kinda is almost in line with the character Emily tried to portray.

Ashfur (psycho cat) in the series was willing to kill 3 innocent children because he was jealous that Squirrelflight (orange female cat that gets bodied in the animatic) chose Brambleclaw over him (her " mate "). It's been like... 10+ years since I read these books but if I remember correctly, the nest their clan was living in caught fire. As everyone was trying to escape, he cornered off SF & her " kids " as revenge. Except they aren't actually her kids. She adopted them from her sister because of some stupid ass clan rule where the medicine cat isn't allowed to have kids for ReAsOnS basically. Ashfur then changed his mind and let them live but one of the kids wound up murdering him later anyways lol

If I'm not mistaken, Ashfur was always jealous of Brambleclaw because he was appointed as the 2nd-in-command or whatever. Ashfur always felt like that was only done because he was mated with the clan leader's daughter & gave him grandkids. It actually would make perfect sense then for him to just go on a homicidal rampage.

But no wai, gaiz. The literal attempted child murderer isn't that bad because he didn't actually kill them!

The people crying that this wouldn't have happened in an alternate universe really are only doing it because they're either incredibly sensitive or didn't actually read the series. There's plenty of emotional abuse dynamics in the series which is INCREDIBLY fucked up to realize now that I've matured. I guess that's why I fell out of the book series. Just got too creepy and melodramatic.

That being said, the animatic itself is disturbing and I don't blame anyone for finding it as such but I'm 99% certain that there are worse fanfics out there than this. The subject matter itself just leave so much room for that kind of grotesque fantasy shit so why the Warriors Fandom is acting all outraged is beyond me.

just because ashfur is canonically a piece of shit doesnt mean someone needs to publicize to a majority minor audience an extremely graphic (verbal abuse-wise) MAP call, which has a storyboard that only functions as squirrelflight abuse "porn", and which ""song"" has nearly no singing parts until the end (therefore there is no actual time for people to read the piss-poor warning in the description before the triggering content starts).

and before anyone brings up "but there was [18+] warning in the title!!", i think it's important to consider several things as to why that excuse/"reason" doesn't absolve kouma of responsibility here:

Should've stressed this in my original comment but I think OP of the Twitter thread should've put more emphasis on Emily's past rather than waxing on whether or not her interpretation falls in-line with the canon universe. Like I said, the subject matter itself already has disturbing plotlines in itself, including toxic relationships. I'm pretty sure one of the cats intentionally murdered her own kittens in the series (can't remember which one...) We can talk all day long about that but the more important context of the animatic isn't the original subject matter, but Emily's history of predation and degeneracy.

If they're that concerned about her interpretation though, they should look at some other works after the fact, including the source material, and ask " Why is this a trend? "
The Warriors fandom (as far as I'm concerned) is more or less the breeding (or more accurately GROOMING) grounds of furries. A large part from the last decade or so start by reading the books in their pre-teens, go on places like DeviantArt, and then fall into the fandom. The younger they get exposed to ideas like that in the animatic, which I can not stress enough are fairly common place, the more likely they are to turn into what Emily has.
