I'm honestly surprised this shit lasted as long as it did. Anyone who grew up during the Newgrounds era in the 2000's (or anyone that's a fan of Homestar Runner) will tell you it was something magical and marvelous, but outside that, people will gladly take a dump on it for being a security risk including leaking information. That includes the standard Adobe Flash Player, which was infamous for being bloated, slow, and exploitable
I miss the days of newgrounds/ytmnd/whatever when somebody just needed some basic
artistic talent and flash and they could make their own cartoons.
So much weird and interesting shit. Also terrible shit, but as far as I'm concerned the good outweighed the bad.

The Internet Archive now has a project for in-browser emulation of Flash.
I miss the actual Shockwave (vs. what got rebranded 'Shockwave Flash') player, it would do simple BattleZone type clones right in the browser. Was pretty cool although admittedly probably not any easier to develop for than say Java, hence why usage seemed to drop off.
