I only play MTG. Does anyone know the mechanics of the game? Is it powerful enough to be worth that much or does chris want it because it's shiny or his favorite pony?

I was unaware there was even a My Little Pony trading card game to begin with until 5 minutes ago.
And I was perfectly fine not knowing that :sighduck:

Gotta give it to Hasbro though, that's a smart product to push. Aren't even disguising the fact they are marketing towards Chris and his fellow Brony manchildren. Am half expecting My Little Pony Train Simulator to come out next at this point.
Pure profit off of that ink and cardboard too.

It took a bit, but when the Hasbro corporate folks discovered the "brony" demographic, they realized it was basically a licence to print money. I've seen the stock results on Equestria Daily. Pony Merch is about 2/3 of the profits.

$100.

(Laughs)

Ya'll have obviously never played Magic: The Gathering. I remember seeing gen-1 "fork" cards going for $1K, and "Black Lotus" cards for three thousand bucks a pop.

MTG has an active and competitive following with 2 decades of history though. I've never heard of this MLP card game, but I doubt it has much popularity outside of certain Brony subcultures.

I was gonna say, if we're asking for cards, I wouldn't mind a Tarmogoyf or six.

I don't think this card is especially powerful, but it's from a con, so it has "collector's value". I wonder why Chris wants this card specifically. Because it has a pony he likes? Or does he actually play this game? I can't imagine there's much of a community where he lives.
