Welcome to the Farms, @Lithop!

And yeah, Facebook is awful. If you really want to blackpill yourself, there was that Facebook internal document leak a little while back:

We started going through the documents a little in that thread (and then got bored so we never made much headway, but whatever). Two of my favorite highlights from the pdf that we did get around to seeing were:

1. Facebook talking about a partnership with credit service Argus. See, Argus wants data on everyone, but they currently have to get the anonymized transaction data from the banks, and then work with another company to add back in the identifiers. It's all so tiresome. Surely Facebook can help them get straight at the user data they want without all that extra regulation hassle?

2. For a while, Facebook was recording and using their users' call record data without their knowledge, and only really stopped once their lawyers stepped in and told them to knock it off. Such a trustworthy company!

Merry Christmas! :heart-full:

With the mobile facebook page there's literally no need to install the app unless you use messenger (which has it's own app). Also use container tabs to prevent faceberg from tracking your browsing behaviour.

Darpa lifelog was ended on the same day as facebook was launched (though the wikipedia falsely states that it was ended in january rather than the beginning of february, even though the linked source says it happened in february)

Facebook has it's place for people to read some (((approved))) blogs and be reminded that some friends and family are still alive and saying stupid shit. But everything except that is both pointless and potentially puts you on a wrongthink list.

The only reason I've made a Facebook account is because all my friends and family use that and only that and I would never fucking convince them to use something autistic like XMPP, just because I don't want to be spied on. I even registered with and abstract name, but later on Facebook blocked access to my account until I insert my real name and surname. Fuck Facebook.

Facebook was alright from like 2006-2008. It's been a pozzed shadow of its former self for the past decade

I quit FB when they got rid of the trending column. That feature was so useful for "information war" purposes. You could easily compare the way different news outlets were writing about a particular story, and see what people were saying that you'd otherwise never be connected to. It was invaluable for propagandizing during the 2016 election, which is probably why they got rid of it. I had already lost interest in using FB for actually sharing my personal life a few years before that point, and most of the people on my friend list were people I hadn't seen in 5 or more years and had no intention of ever seeing again anyway, so the trending column was the only thing still making the site useful to me at all. Once that was out, so was I.

initially I quit because it fucking depressed me just to go onto facebook.

now I don't go on it because FB just sells your data to people anyway.

I learned about that in a documentary called "The Great Hack". Company called Cambridge Analytica bought data from FB in order to influence people to the Trump campaign. Pretty good doc for the hour drive I had to do one time

Oh, there is a Facebook personality I´d like to comment on here, but I am not sure if opening a thread about a FB "personality" is viable here. He has kind of a cult, lives in NY under an alias, pretends to lead a life he doesn´t have and so much shit.

I can think of a website that's even worse.
TWITTER
Totally. Like dumb and dumber (being Twitter the second one).

The people behind it even admitted they designed it to be addictive, despite knowing it would tear the fabric of society.
With that new colors and overall appearance it looks like a cheap app.
