I've reviewed the Matt/Kacey Devoria calls like 3 times on my mobile phone. And this specific quote really boggles me and makes my mouth freeze:

Chris: Well, all I can say is...that's your opinion, and you have every right to your own opinion.

Matthew: It's not my opinion. It just happened. What the hell are you talking about? I'm talking about facts.

Chris: Yeah, you're talking about— Yes, you are talking about facts, but you have expressed a whole bunch of your own opinions about what you've heard from me the whole conversation.

He seems to screw up opinion and facts according to his own liking and this really like make my head hurts.

That's just Chris being Chris, he hates admitting he's anything short of perfect and will try and convince his critic that they are either naive or mistaken in whatever they are currently confronting him about.

Huh, all I can say is, he doesn't want to be wrong about anything, any negative traits he has, he will not work on because to him, he's right. Like his bigotry against the handicapped, he says everyone should just except it, he doesn't think, "Maybe I should work on that?" nope, he's right, everyone has to accept it.

He knows "you have the right to your own opinion" is a stock phrase meant to placate a person you disagree with, used it without thinking, and then got all flustered about words meaning things.

Chris is kind of like a political pundit in this sense. No matter how many facts you dangle in his face, he is dead set in one opinion and it's not going to change.

If it's something that disagrees with his principles or makes him look bad, it's an opinion. If it complies with his beliefs, it's TRUE and HONEST.

It is Chris' Autistic way of avoiding confrontation. Chris talks a big talk, but when it comes down to a real confrontation of any sort he tries to get out of it. It is also a way for him to avoid being wrong.

Chris really doesn't think like the common person, and this often makes his clever plans blow up in his face. All the slander and lies on the CWCki, for example, are the trolls misinterpreting his words and thus making him look bad, and I think this is what he was trying to say on the phone call as well.

That or avoid confrontation.

What has already been said, and that you can dismiss an opinion. He knows that, so he'll just label something as an opinion because that gives him the ability to dismiss it. No matter how factual and logical your argument is, if it doesn't support his side then he doesn't see it as having any value whatsoever.

Chris thinks that if he has an opinion about something it is as good as fact but if someone else has an opinion it's meaningless. It's really frustrating and really shows what an egocentric worldview Chris has. For example, in the Autism Awareness emails he says
For your information, the Fact of Aspergers being different from Autism and of it trying to steal the light is of MY Own Idea. I will NEVER conform to such a blasphemous link of any kind between the two. And I am certainly not going to change the image's text.
He basically admits that he just pulled this "fact" out of his arse with no proof, but it is a "fact" because it is HIS idea. He also thinks that his own opinion trumps actual scientific evidence:
And I do not give a c*** about what "Scientists" may or may not have found there either. IN MY VIEW, Aspergers IS NOT Autism.

His valuing subjective opinion over objective fact actually explains a lot about Chris. In his opinion he is the perfect catch, so it doesn't matter that according to every objective criteria of desirability he is an unappealing partner. Any contradiction between between opinion and hard-cold fact causes most people to alter their opinions, even if it means seeing themselves in a more critical light. Chris simply can't do this and that's why his sweetheart search has been so unsuccessful.

Just gonna leave this here.

I STILL disagree with the "Scientists", regardless of how long they may have studied those psychological topics. EVEN if I am living a lie, I'd rather live this lie than believe that truth ever. I AM RESISTANT TO THE CHANGE!

I think to Chris, anything he says is a fact, such as his views on Aspergers.

I always figured this was Chris trying to change the subject from one he knows he's gonna lose, to one he thinks he can fight in. In this case, he wants to distract Mr. Devoria from the fact that he upset the man's daughter, so instead he's trying to bring up things that he can say "see? This is your fault".

He tries to change the subject like that all the time when conversations aren't going the way he wants.

I wonder if before the call he really thought he was going to be able to shmooze his way into getting Michael's approval. He didn't seem very nervous.

Well, that's what happens in romantic comedies: the guy always wins over the SO's parents, if not with material wealth, then with a wealth of heart.

Yup. Except he tries to totally avoid the whole "Convincing the in laws that he's good" part.

^No, he tries to convince his would-be in-law that he's worthy. It's just that he has no idea what real work is, so he thinks eating vegetables and the suggestion that he could walk 5 miles if he felt like it are good enough to push him over.
