Like The Courier secretly being a clone of the Vault Dweller from 1, and also semi-quasi super soldier super mutant apart of the eeeebil enclave control vault. Poorly optimized and poorly voice acted, save for a few unique NPC's

Decided to mess around with some bethesda games to see how they will run on my apu.

Oblivion and skyrim work great, no issues. New Vegas chugs like a motherfucker and keeps crashing reeeeeeeeee

Is it still a busted mess all these years later? (Im using the gog version without any extra patches).

As listed a few pages back, you really need fan patches in order to make it run for any respectable amount of time. I haven't used the GOG version, so I personally can't tell you what you need to do to get it to run, as most mods require the steam version.

Nah. He thinks he's still not a mutant, and he still hates mutants. He got infected with the FEV when exploring some base for the Enclave, and they decided to put on some special armor for him when he became a Super Mutant.

The Enclave learned a lot about FEV from him, eventually he wasnt useful for that anymore but he was still a 12 foot tall (more) retarded 100% loyal to MURICA monster who was perfect as a murder machine and fear generator.

A couple weeks before its beta (and final) release, Beth revealed a board game called "New California", so the team feared Zenimax's bloodthirsty army of lawyers and dropped the project in Nexus and Moddb in a "finished" but rough and unpolished state

As a whole, the game's opening is
strong but the world is empty and sorta bland, story is ok, it definetly didnt have all the barely hidden degeneracy too, its interesting, but as a whole mediocre

On the topic of the AMR, I was comparing weapons from NV the other day and the fucking Holorifle from Dead Money is, fully upgraded, actually comparable to the AMR. It's meant for shorter range, on account of the spread, but it also has four rounds and a DOT. Kinda makes me think of a slug shotgun. Really enjoying using it, it made clearing out the quarry a cinch.

There's also Paciencia, which can outperform the AMR with a Crit Build. Oh Baby!, the unique Super Sledge also puts out insane damage numbers, and with Pyromaniac the Cleansing Flame (GRA unique Flamer) will melt through anything in a matter of seconds. Even more fun with the Meltdown perk.

Playing through TTW again and good fucking god whoever programmed the Albino Radscorpions is a fucking cunt. Things are imbalanced as fuck and not fun to fight.
Regular Radscorpions have 150 health. Giant Radscorpions have 350 health. But Albino Radscorpions for some fucked up reason have 1500 health, second only to a Super Mutant Behemoth who have 2000 health.

Goddamn makes the game annoying after level 20, so I'm gonna find a mod to rebalance that shit.

I was bitching about that in another thread. Shit makes me want to stay in the Mojave. I ran in to like 9 of them in less than 5 minutes.

Fallout 3 is more hardcore than New Vegas. In the Mojave, so long as you stay away from the places where all the big monsters live, you'll do fine. In Fallout 3, it's a lot more like an old-school RPG where random encounters can end with you fighting a monster that can rearrange your face while shoving its claws up your power-armored ass with barely any effort.

I don't think an early release was its main problem when its plot is painfully below even fanfic standards. Granted, I only just finished watching a playthrough of it but even Fallout 3 didn't feel as blatant with its MEMBER FALLOUT elements. The Not!Master+Lieutenant was just awful. A lot of the dialogue you could pick was just the one line. The tie ins to the actual Fallout games in the endings were also shit.

I found a few TTW mods that makes them a lot less OP. One to decrease their health, and one to take off the unblockable damage. Both are very much welcome modifications.

That's one of my biggest complaints about New Vegas, the lack of truly random enemy encounters. Once you know where the Deathclaws and Super Mutants are you can just avoid them. But when a random spawn point can shit out anything it makes everything that much more exciting.

The only random encounters I've seen in New Vegas are the Legion/NCR hit squads that materialize only in certain parts of the map. The NCR Rangers are tougher in my book than the Deathclaws or the Albino Radscorpions because of their anti-armor guns, so they hurt like hell AND can hit you from afar. Still, just find some decent cover and force them to come over to you one by one, and you'll be fine.

That's the problem with many of these would-be critics. They bitch about Bethesda's stories, but when you sit them down and ask them to make a new story in Fallout on their own terms, at best, it's fanfiction-tier, at worst, it's insulting. Like how the Frontier made you feel like Princess Peach when some mod writer's OCs rescued you and died like heroes while your character was some wimp who got caught and crucified. No matter how "bad" Fallout 3's story is, it's still far better than these glorified fanfics, since it actually feels empowering when you get captured by the Enclave and you end up eradicating every Enclave soldier between you and the exit, and it also feels empowering when you eradicate all the Enclave forces on the Enclave's base crawler. It actually played like a game that wanted you to feel like a hero, instead of a game that wants you to MEMBER FALLOUT or just suck up to previous games. Fallout 3's story is like a dumb action movie that still feels good to watch, while these fan mods just feel like either shilling for OCs (Frontier) or nostalgia bait (New California), which just feels tiresome.

Did anyone ever find this? This was an old controversial kind of obscure mystery that nobody could find. The closest possibility I can think of is he mistook the name for the vault towards the end of the game where:

You find half finished super mutants and you read logs on terminals that talked about the processes that the citizens had to go through and it’s pretty fucked.

There’s also cliffside caverns but that has nothing that fits the descriptions he was talking about a long time ago unless you count the mines that come out of nowhere because nothing scares me then hearing fucking beep beeps as I’m walking.

He could’ve also been trolling too, but my money’s on the little lamplight vault he wrongly named a Cee’s Mining Cavern.

I have never played fallout 1 and barely got into Fallout 2, mainly because the only isometric game I can play is project zomboid , so a remake would be cool in my eyes.

Microsoft will soon own Fallout, and both inXile & Obsidian have experience in making isometric RPGs.

It might not happen since Bethesda isn't all that keen on remakes beyond fan projects (assuming they have enough sway over Fallout after the acquisition) and potential overlap with Wasteland, but you never know given how everything seems to be going off the rails these days.

Any remake is going to butcher the original games because they're full of not-PC shit. If they had the balls to simply redraw all the sprites without any compression and remake the UI without touching any of the writing and only making bugfixes, I would be incredibly, incredibly surprised.

Also you can't make the Vault Dweller or Chosen One black and that is a crime worthy of firing squad in 2021, Year of the Negro.

Yeah, I didn't miss weapon durability as much as I thought I would. The voiced protagonist didn't bother me much but the limited dialogue options got tedious after a while. I think skills could've stayed the same or even operated the way Skyrim's did, as exploitable it would be. Perks alone just doesn't scratch the same itch as slowly improving in different areas at once. Power armor changes were a huge direction to go in and a far more drastic change to the lore than anything else but that was well-received and something I didn't mind either. Power armor was always a bit too much in my taste, at least regarding the modern Fallouts before 4.

I haven't played 76 but what I've seen regarding creatures, additions to the Not!Lovecraft elements introduced in 3, the general atmosphere, and those genuinely creepy as shit cryptids makes me want to play it even though I really don't like MMOs.

As far as 76 goes, I bought it last year, only started playing it a few months ago cause it didn't like my video card (it literally blew up my previous card, don't use anything even remotely below recommended specs on that game, trust me on that) and after getting over 100 hours in it its one of those games that I can't really say with certainty how I feel about it. The world design is decent and varied enough to be interesting, the cryptids you mentioned pop up in some pretty creepy places that suit them perfectly. There is also a cult that worships the mothman that you run into. The quests are kind of iffy and i'm currently stuck on advancing the story cause theres one of those irritating combat designed robots that will hand you your ass very quickly in a room full of other bots that you have to clear out to get a particular item. Its one of the things that makes me question whether there is some serious balancing issues in some places like that. Also odd incidents like running into one of those sheepsquatches (a legendary one 10 levels above me no less) in the middle of a mountain highway that I had to get past to get to where I needed to go a few miles down the road, that led to me having to get very creative to get through and getting killed half a dozen times trying. But there are also some well made encounters - like the time I ran into a flying scorchbeast on the highway and pretty much had to run through the woods taking cover against trees and taking pot shots at it until I could hide and get away from it, which was one of the most intense experiences i've ever had in a fallout game, and another at an out of the way inn that will rent you a room while acting a bit off, and it turns out there are cannibals in the basement that will try to ambush you in your bed when you try to sleep. But those decent encounters are shall we say, few and far between. The changing weather is nice, the fact npcs will fly around in BOS aircraft and attack raiders or mutant camps is interesting and adds some life to the game that NV and 3 lacked. The biggest problem for me has been keeping enough ammo on hand to do anything and getting decent enough weapons to be able to survive, which only gets harder as you level up. Hell i'm using a pistol 20+ levels below me because its the only decent weapon i've got that doesn't break after 5 shots. Which brings up another problem - equipment maintenance. I have seen weapons that you can fire maybe 10 times or less before they just break and become unusable. and I don't mean high end stuff either, just normal pistols, rifles and stuff like that. Energy weapons are famous for it as well. and power armor you can oddly enough find all over the place at times, but it requires so many power cells to use on any regular basis to be able to use it that its practically worthless. So it absolutely has its issues, some of which do drive a fair number of people away

That said, if you are interested in trying it i'd say wait until its on sale. I wouldn't pay full price for it

A bit late, but I'm right here with ya. Tactics is incredibly fun.

As for the autistic lore and writing sperging between BI and Beth games, I personally never cared. FO2 will always be a more fun game to play than any of the 3d fallouts.

I can understand why people like them, but just isn't my cup of tea.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on people saying that Fallout needs to be handed over to Obsidian after how lousy The Outer Worlds was. The best I'd give them would be having them & inXile assist Bethesda on the next game and maybe handle the DLC afterward (not ragging on inXile, they just don't yet have experience in making a game like modern Fallout).

Until they can prove themselves with games like Avowed, I don't trust Obsidian to handle Fallout by themselves.
