I just replayed Fallout 4 to remember what made me stop playin it without beating it.

My god did I forget that Minecraft/tower defense mission in Far Harbor. And how annoying it is to be one component short to build ANYTHING. It just doesn't have the pull of FNV. or even (as hard as it it at first) Fallout 3.
Maybe I should play the first two.

You should, but know that it comes from a different time when compared to FO3 and FNV.

Those games can easily be plugged in and played, whereas FO1 and FO2 have different quirks that many modern games do not. FO1 has a time limit, and FO2's opening sequence is rather strenuous. I remember Lorerunner getting pissy about it despite having played it before.

That, and FO2 has no different ending aside from sidequests. The main ending will be the same, no matter what.

Let it be known that Mr. House got beaten in the post-apocalyptic space race by a bunch of religious ghouls.

With help from everyone's resident favorite Courier, no less. So House's new star employee helped others beat him in the Space Race.

Also, I came across a great realization: Caesar's a fucking idiot. No, it's not because the NCR is correct, the NCR in-game is horrible. But Caesar could have gotten what he wanted if he simply offered a hand of peace with the NCR instead of fighting them.

Instead of spending money and blood trying to conquer the East, he could have just posed as an ally of the NCR. House doesn't like the NCR's government, his own government is autocratic as fuck, but he's not above breaking bread with them in order to gain some minimal advantage. Caesar could have done the same.

Edward Sallow could have used his knowledge of the NCR, especially his experience as a former citizen, to utterly cuck the government and slowly turn its elites over to his side. He could have offered a treaty of friendship to the NCR, having his bannermen go up to the NCR and say that "the great and mighty Caesar wishes to give greetings of good will to the land of his forefathers" and that Legion territory is open for NCR businesses, landowners, and merchant caravans to do business with. Have Legion troops guard NCR traders and corporate businessmen as they travel and do business in Legion territory in exchange for the NCR's tolerance of the Legion's use of slaves.

While some "DEMOCRACY GOOD" people in the NCR would obviously protest at the Legion's use of slaves, if Caesar gets enough of the NCR's rich folk to see him in a positive light, they can get the NCR to tolerate Caesar's use of slaves, and Caesar can even excuse it as his actions towards "barbarian tribes" while the the "civilized" civilian communities in Legion turf are barely accosted by the Legion outside of the odd request. Caesar can pose himself as the great hero of the NCR populace, since he came from the NCR, he organized tribes into a real army, conquering a large chunk of the barbarian wastelands and bringing them into the light of civilization. With all the rich people in the NCR eating out of his pocket, Caesar can easily run for election as the new NCR president, and with the NCR's elites backing him, winning an election will be child's play.

Once he becomes president, Caesar can then step up the NCR's militarization and transformation into a military dictatorship, stating that stability and security will ensure prosperity and peace, not to mention greater profits for the rich folk of the NCR and their businesses. In a few decades, both the NCR and Legion turf will end up becoming Caesar's new western American Empire; and with a robust bureaucracy supported by efficient soldiers and administrators from the Legion, bolstered by capital from rich NCR citizens and the commonfolk who won't have to worry about stupid things like Deathclaw attacks and raider parties anymore, Caesar can get what he wanted in the first place, without firing a shot at the NCR.

But I suppose the NCR failing to protect his family gave Edward Sallow a bad impression of the NCR, and he chose war with them instead.

See, that's the problem there. That end statement. Caesar was far too driven by his own feelings. You could see it when you spoke to him. Any percieved slight is met with an outburst of anger.

But I can completely see Caesar managing to deal with the NCR more diplomatically if he wasn't so emotion driven. Allow his territory to serve as an example to the NCR, then allow it to eventually become part of the NCR under the condition that he remains governor of those new states and that the culture is to be left intact. Even the slavery wouldn't be much of an issue for the NCR provided that only one type of person is enslaved: criminals.
I mean, the NCR used their convicts to clear and maintain the rail lines to the Boneyard. Forced labor, even as punishment, is slavery. So the NCR would have been willing to make concessions if Caesar was also willing to make a few concessions.

Would take quite awhile and there's no absolute guarantee of success, but this plan could work and would also satisfy Caesar's desire for Hegelian synthesis as the 2 cultures begin to intermingle.

Exactly. For all his supposed wisdom, in the end, he's a raging teenager with some bare-bones education in an older man's body. Otherwise, he wouldn't turn away the advantages of having robots and combat stims for his troops.

Obviously, you can't just let those maniacs roam free, but throwing them in a prison and swallowing the key would be a waste of manpower. Better that they "contribute to civilization" by being forced to abandon their barbaric ways and made to work for the good of civilization.

Heck, House did the same thing. The only difference is, he pays those twats.

Best part is using repair kits to maximize their value, and selling those weapons back to those jackasses.

It's how I'm able to afford good shit like the plasma caster early on (what a great weapon, happy it came back in 76).

Pretty sure they at least achieve orbit. Might be a space station up there that they've ended up occupying.
Lol, they should refrence it in a future Fallout title by allowing you to fly a rocket up to the station and find it infested with feral ghouls lead by a single glowing one wearing Jason's clothes.

For all of the game's flaws, the settlement mechanic and the recycler mod for automation really massage the autism back out of a man's brain. That's for sure.

Playing Fallout 4 heavily modded and avoiding or modding most the railroaded sections out is actually quite fun.

As much as The Minutemen feel kinda like default good guys and Preston's nonstop wave of 'another settlement needs your help', I like building them back up. Doing those radiant quests doesn't bother me as much since it's an easy xp and legendary farm and you can easily build up affinity with certain companions if your intent is romancing them.

Granted, Fallout 4 is a decent game to just fuck around in. It's still a terrible Fallout game, but I've seen worse implementations of the "Borderlands but single-player" formula.

It's basically just a nice sandbox to fuck around in.

One thing that'll always get me is the lore spergs on nexus or reddit crying about how some new weapon or armor mod is "lore breaking" as if this game didn't butcher the lore in multiple ways.
