At rise: in zapbud field two hobos, SONICHU and ROSECHU, wearing yellow and pink bowler hats wait by a bare tree. CHRISTIAN CHANDLER enters.
CHANDLER: My Sweetheart wishes to tell you she regrets she could not meet you. But will arrive tonight.

(CHANDLER exits.)

SONICHU: Will she come?
ROSECHU: Of course!
SONICHU: She hasn’t yet.
ROSECHU: No.
(Pause.)
ROSECHU: Should we kill ourselves?
(Pause.)
SONICHU: No.
ROSECHU: Why not?
SONICHU: Because we’re waiting for Sweetheart.
(They wait.)

BLACKOUT

ACT II

At rise: The same road the next night. SONICHU and ROSECHU wait. ROSECHU has been beaten bloody. CHANDLER enters.

CHANDLER: My Sweetheart regrets that she could not meet you last night, but will arrive presently.
(CHANDLER exits.)
SONICHU: Should we go?
ROSECHU: No.
SONICHU: Why not.
ROSECHU: Because we’re waiting for Sweetheart.
(They wait.)
