I actually like this one.
It adds Ghost (Dark?) elements to the design, without fundamentally making it something its not but adding enough that its not just taping ectoplasmic whisps to Furret. That being said I'd change the dark/medium brown to a more grayish tone.
Also a dual Normal-Ghost type would be a pretty competitive pairing.

I'm suprised with the announcement of D/P remakes they didn't bring up Primal/Dark Dialga at all. You think it could've been something similar to what ORAS did with primal forms, but alas.

On another note, have some general cringe from well-known Pokémon artist Racie B, who was talked about earlier in this thread.

Well, at least she's prettier than the average troon. That's not really saying much, though.
UmbreonLibris also did a collaboration with DarkandWindie.

Suprisingly, not a bad video, but that's probably because Libris is the one drawing, and he knows how to draw a variety of different poses, while Darkie draws the same 4 or 5 body types.

It's interesting how much insight Darkie is giving, though. I wonder if this is the year when he actually becomes competent as a designer.

Dont know what it is that gives every fakemon away for me, they can imitate Sugimori's drawing style down to a T, but the designs themselves just feel off, somehow. You can immediately tell which is an official mon and which is not. Wish i could explain why that is

Probably because everyone knows what the original 151 is. Sure, the artstyle was carried onto generation 2, but that specific Sugimori style is heavily associated with those two generations, since it stopped being used after generation 3.

Don't get me wrong, I heavily prefer the rough look of the older designs far more than the cartoony ones we've been getting, but I feel it's far harder to nail it than the new style.

Probably because everyone knows what the original 151 is. Sure, the artstyle was carried onto generation 2, but that specific Sugimori style is heavily associated with those two generations, since it stopped being used after generation 3.

I think it's more about the simplicity for me, take Pokemon considered beautiful looking like Milotic or Gardevoir and they look distinctive enough with not that many colors or shapes

I doubt they'll be doing something similar to Primal reversion in the near future. That feature was related to Mega Evolution and Gen 6. Plus, if Palkia/Dialga/Girantina and Arceus get Primal Reversion/Mega Evolution forms, they'd have to bring back Mega Evolution and Primal reversion. But as it stands, it seems like they're done with that feature (because most features GF introduces seem to be around for a generation or two before being axed until a remake of that game comes around).

These honestly aren't too bad. Heliolisk might be a tad overdesigned, but it isn't too offensive in that regard. Also, we could use an Electric/Fire mon that isn't a literal oven. Mega Girafarig is simple yet neat, and also looks like it could be a Normal/Ghost type, a type combo that has incredible potential in competitive.
Now, if you're looking for a real bad mega evolution...

Wasn’t sure what to update the thread with and realized that people are making some...interesting (?) redesigned evolution for the starters in feudal Sinnoh.

Typhlosion seems pretty popular for the redesigns for some reason. I can imagine it’s because his original design is kind of meh in comparison to all the other final fire evolutions.

I generally like this artist’s designs but this one



I like the face of this one (its a nice wild expression) but everything below that feels off.


Actually really dislike this one. It might be the combination of it sticking it’s tongue and it’s face being like if you pulled the skin back on a dog/cat’s face so their eyes bulge out or become “slanted”.

This one isn’t bad but it gives me more reptilian vibes even with the fluff.

I like the idea of this one but I do wish the execution was a little different? I think I’d like it more if the front of the (fur robe?) concealed the legs more.

Also don’t mind this one but the design doesn’t scream “final evolution” to me. It looks more like a middle evolution.

And then the one Rowlett and Oshawatt pre evolutions that I felt were worth sticking in here.


I just think he looks like an edgier rehash of the final evo.



Lots of Samurott reimagining turn him into something human with a just a furry face. There were a few more I could have picked but just didn’t feel like downloading after this one.

I highly doubt they're going to introduce new final evolutions for ancient Sinnoh, especially when they've been neglecting these starters for so long. I don't think many of these can capture the same feel the originals had.

That being said, though, it is a rather novel idea to give regional forms to older regions, even if I personally think regional forms are rather unnecessary.

Samurott fits just fine and so does Decidueye. If anything make Typhlosion more of a ninja or a Shogun and we're good but that's too far of a stretch
