A bit more context on this whole situation.

For over a decade now, Ubisoft has been facing potential buyouts. First from EA, then from Vivendi. Doing their best flagpole Charlseton, Ubisoft has continuously scrambled to avoid being taken over. This has prevented the company from letting Assassin's Creed and the other IPs breathe a little, instead turning them out at an increasing frequency.

Despite the cherrypicking on some fancy slides, the sales have suffered as a result. The threat of a buyout continues to loom, but the Ubisoft train can't afford such luxuries as brakes. So what do you do to stem the tide, or even begin to reverse it, when you don't have the resources to even make new areas for your games?

I can't wait to see Waypoint's confused and uncomfortable reaction to Far Cry 5. We likely won't see it, though. They will probably refuse to play through the game, much as they refused to play through Kingdom Come, and the most we'll see is a bravely titled "Why We Won't Cover Far Cry 5" when they stop shitting themselves long enough to write a paragraph-length summary of how Far Cry 5 tickles their no-no places.

One hand, I want to get this game because of the copious amount of salt this is generating, and tbh, I did enjoy FC3... and some of FC4 (althought the collect-a-thon got really obnoxious with that one).
On the other hand, it's Ubisoft, and in my book they're only a shade or two better than EA.

The sad punchline is that this is basically the most realistic depiction of "someone who's been raised outside of a progressive culture trying to learn how to be more accepting of other people" in video games. One surreal section challenges you to obediently, efficiently slaughter as many enemies as possible while in drugged-out bliss for what feels like Spec Ops: The Line-esque critical self-commentary of the military gaming industrial complex and player complicity. But again it feels hollow when coupled with the game’s reflexive fetishism of guns themselves as well as the “good” Montana militias that aid you against the “bad” cult that frankly both spring from the exact same unacknowledged and destructive toxic patriarchal American gun culture. Whoops.

Intentional or not, Far Cry 5 is absolutely a game about the danger of unchecked American right wing extremism, the same poisonous conservatism currently in charge of the country while worming deeper into gamer culture as well, and the developers need to own it.

tldr: salty cuck whines about the game not being true & honest enough about the evils of republicans. Also Trump has small hands.
