Honestly, the whole "capture you" thing was what caused Far Cry 5 to feel so inconsistent in tone despite Far Cry always having goofy stuff and serious stuff IMO.

It made you notice it way more because you were forced to go from over the top fun stuff to dull and serious story missions at a moments notice.

wish the game had more mods , if someone made one that replaced all that shit with just a option to start the mission it would improve the game ten fold.

i started a play-through of 5 whenever they added the rook outfit since at first it was locked behind the hardest difficulty on new game plus , but now its unlocked instantly so thats cool but also sucks for me.

The Far Cry series after 3 can barely even be called "iterative," as you have to squint to see any real changes to the gameplay. It's the FPS equivalent of Madden and I'm probably going to play it and hate myself for it.
I don't get why people say this.

Far Cry 4 introduced the grappling hook, had way more emphasis on the flight suit as well as adding actual vehicular combat. Far Cry 5 added a ton of aerial combat with planes and helicopters and completely changed how progression worked (not exactly for the better mind you but still). That's not even getting into how vastly different each location has been.

The idea that they haven't added or changed anything from Far Cry 3 is such a weird take. It is a weird take I've seen the past two generations where a game is expected to completely change genres between entries otherwise it's just a copy/paste.

So Ubisoft just announced that past villains Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph will be playable in 6 via DLC:

Three of Far Cry's iconic villains return for players to experience the world from their twisted perspectives to see what it takes to be bad.
far-cry-6-dlc-e3.jpg

Along with lush open worlds for players to explore, a integral part to the Far Cry experience has been its villains. From the pirate Vaas in Far Cry 3 to Far Cry 5's religious zealot Joesph Seed, the villains drive the narrative of each game while offering their own twisted insight into the world at large. Its these characters Ubisoft says it will turn to with a villain-centric DLC following Far Cry 6's release where players will get to experience the world from the other side.

Gameplay in the DLC appears to remain largely unchanged from what fans expect out of the Far Cry series. The world's will still be explorable and gunplay should be familiar to most fans of the series. The focus appears to be concentrated on the perspective-shift, represented in the updated world designs. The Rook Islands, Kyrat, and Hope County all appear in somewhat twisted forms to reflect the minds of Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph, respectively.

I will say, I did like how Joseph and Pagan actually have their own stealth kill animations with Joseph jamming a bible in a guys mouth and breaking his neck, while Pagan stabs the target with a pen in the eye and then casually pulls it out.

The DLC feels like Pandering, but Ubisoft has a tendency to play it safewith popular concepts and characters in this series so i dont mind. I hope they add Pagan and Vaas to the map editor.

My biggest concern regarding fc6 is if they are going to countinue to nerf it and dumb it down. fc4 had a lame story and characters, apart from Pagan, but at least the gameplay was fairly good. They nerfed the mobs and AI in 5, for no good reason.

Hope these are better than 5's DLC, this sounds like a pretty cool idea and I'd hate to see it get wasted.
I never did play 5's Vietnam DLC despite buying it, is it worth playing?

if you played one far cry game, you basically played them all.
Gameplay wise yes but 5's American setting brought a really different atmosphere.

Apparently, they were all bog standard affairs that didn't take full advantage of their settings and were too short. I never bought them as I heard they were subpar compared to other Ubisoft DLC (like recent Assassin's Creed titles, they have meaty ones), so I don't think you're missing out on much here.

As someone who wanted a Vietnam Far Cry years before the DLC came out it was super disappointing.

Maybe worth playing super super cheap but its just too damn short and doesn't change much up. 5 bucks max

I liked it the most out of the three but I think that had more to do with my hatred of hurk and the lame director more than anything

If you get the Season Pass at a nice discount, I'd say it's worth it if you like Far Cry 5. But Ubisoft needs to step up what they classify as DLC.

Oddly enough, I'd say the FC4 Yeti DLC was really worth it. Since it pretty much gives a separate storyline, with a new location, enemies and I think it kinda had a survival thing going for it.

It was ok. No doubt better than Mars and the asset flip/zombie DLC.
I wish they had used the DLCs to add more to the main story, to flesh out certain characters. I guess Ubisoft didn't really care and judging by the DLCs for FC6 they are out of ideas.
