Look a the just cause games (before four) to see a series actually properly iterate without changing the formula. The games feel different and fresh but still have mainstays like destruction as progression, travel via grappling hook, and toppling a dictatorship in cheesy 80s action fashion. Far cry's added movement options, but what else? They actually downgraded in some terms with the removal of hunting actually having a use in upgrading your equipment. If they didn't publish a new far cry as often as they do they would actually be able to innovate proper.I don't get why people say this.
Far Cry 4 introduced the grappling hook, had way more emphasis on the flight suit as well as adding actual vehicular combat. Far Cry 5 added a ton of aerial combat with planes and helicopters and completely changed how progression worked (not exactly for the better mind you but still). That's not even getting into how vastly different each location has been.
The idea that they haven't added or changed anything from Far Cry 3 is such a weird take. It is a weird take I've seen the past two generations where a game is expected to completely change genres between entries otherwise it's just a copy/paste.
