Now, it's already well-known that CWCville is a barely-functioning hellhole where Chris rules viciously and autocratically. Granted, Chris has never tried to represent CWCville as being that but he conveys the message rather clearly thanks to his incredible ineptitude.

Anyhow, I have a real fascination with dysfunctional forms of government, namely police states and autocracies, both of which CWCville is. Some time ago, I came across this list titled The Fourteen Defining Characteristics of Fascism (http://www.rense.com/general37/char.htm). Basically, those are just fourteen traits commonly shared by fascist nations and similarly dysfunctional crap holes. They are indicators that there are serious internal problems in a government in other words.

As I apparently have way too much free time, I thought it would be interesting to go look at the portrayals of CWCville in the comics again and see how many of the aforementioned traits are displayed. The results were exactly what you would expect:

Note: If anyone points out any details that I may have missed that support these 14 points, I'll be sure to add them onto this list.

1. Intense Nationalism - Chris's initials are plastered everywhere: on the currency, on businesses, even in the title of his domain, "CWCville." Chris goes so far as to declare a holiday named after himself, "Chirstian Love Day." The presence of corporations named after him, such as CWC Cola, may also be a display of nationalism.

2. Disdain For Human Rights -
Oh boy, where to begin? Chris manages to get away with committing genocide against the 4-cent garbage employees without so much as a single outcry of dissidence among his citizens. No one bats an eye at the abortion of justice that was the Asperpedia 4 trial nor the subsequent executions. Chris is able to commit atrocity after atrocity without any of his subjects objecting in any way whatsoever.

3. Identifying Enemies/Scapegoats -
Trolls and Homos are the two big scapegoats in CWCville. Disdain for these two groups is evident, with Homosexuality being verboten by law and the word "troll" being synonymous with "terrorist" or "enemy of the state." The people of CWCville do not seem to show any opposition to Chris's ruthless hatred of these groups, suggesting that they concur that those groups are foes to be eradicated. Although not quite as prevalent, mistreatment of ethnic minorities is also present, examples including the elderly Jamaican hobo Inos being arrested and unwillingly forced into a soup hotel.

4. Militarism -
Chris's squad of Sonichus, more or less making up the military branch of CWCville, are given more precedence than any of the town's other aspects. Chris actively ignores the very real domestic problems in CWCville by leaving them for his secretary to sort out. He spends a great deal of time fighting trolls with his squad of super-powered thugs and engaging in needlessly drawn-out conflicts with dissidents.

5. Homophobia and Misogyny -
As mentioned above, homosexuality is punishable by law. Chris enforces mandatory "Dating classes" for the people of CWCville, instructing them to stay straight or else. Orwellian surveillance is used to root out and arrest any and all homos present in CWCville. Chris infamously commits genocide against the worlds homosexual population by lacing the world's water with an alleged cure for the orientation. Women are treated similarly poorly in CWCville, seemingly having and even desiring to adhere to the stigma of being subservient to men in society. Women in CWCville exist almost solely to engage in intercourse with men. Additionally, women apparently do not have the right to vote. What they're unable to vote on is unclear.

6. Government Controlled Media -
The radio station titled "KCWC" speaks for itself. Along with playing music, the station frequently praises Chris for his inane actions, carrying with it the shady undertone of Chris's influence.

7. National Security -
Although its never explicitly shown, this seems to be how Chris gets away with committing heinous acts as frequently as he does. The destruction of the 4-cent garbage building draws no attention, likely because it was populated by "trolls," indicating it was an act done in the best interests of the security of CWCville.

8. Non-Secular Politics -
Religion is only mentioned in passing during Sonichu although a few occasions stand out. When Sonichu goes to "liberate" the characters of Asperchu, they mention that they have been praying to Chris in the hopes that he would save them. Chris also mentions that he is "a servant of Jesus and God" and seems to think of himself as having the authority to forgive others for breaking the ten commandments. Given Chris's peculiar standing on religion in real life, it would be reasonable to assume that Chris's rule has theocratic tendencies.

9. Government Entwined Corporations -
The presence of companies with titles such as CWC Cola and KCWC seem to indicate that there is some kind of connection between the government and the elite corporations of CWCville. As the CWCki put it, this aspect of the corporate world of CWCville seems to point to "either nationalization of normally private businesses or rampant cronyism." Additionally, Chris's base of operations is located in a mall, a center of commerce as opposed to an actual government building.

10. Suppression of Labor Power -
Examples of this were hard to come by. The massive amounts of homeless people and soup hotels don't seem to indicate anything positive about the world of labor in CWCville. Given the authoritarian nature of CWCville, it can be reasonably assumed that labor is suppressed but no sufficient examples exist to demonstrate that possiblity.

11. Anti-Intellectualism -
One of the many people resisting Chris's rule in the comic is Mary Lee Walsh, the dean of what is apparently the only college around. Alec Leary Benson and his comrades are perceived as being vile national enemies for making a comic that criticizes Chris. They are charged with the grievous offence of "slander" and are mutilated and killed for their actions. That being said, many of the offenses made by the villains throughout the series frequently boil down to just "mocking Chris."

12. Unjust Laws and Draconian Law Enforcement -
The way crime and punishment functions in CWCville is confounding to say the least. Smoking is punishable with jail time, homosexuality is illegal and sexual assault isn't seen as a viable offence. What's more egregious is that Chris's Sonichu squad, already demonstrated to fulfill a role similar to that of SAVAK or the KGB, is given limitless freedom to enforce the law as tyrannically as they see fit. As mentioned, they are immune to being prosecuted for any offenses they may commit.

13. Widespread Corruption and Cronyism-
Chris doesn't seem to pay attention to the numerous pending issues present in CWCville, instead shifting the responsibility of managing them on his secretary. Chris also grants his private squad of thugs immunity to law, meaning they are above being tried for any crimes they may commit. Additionally, Chris's gang of Sonichus all seem to hold positions among the elite of CWCville given the frequent usage of their services.

14. Fraudulent Elections -
BILLY MAYS, during his brief stint as the mayor of CWCville, was seen as a great reformer and enjoyed wide-spread approval from his subjects. His untimely death early in his reign and the immediate reclaiming of the position of mayor by Chris suggests that sinister forces were at work. It is not unreasonable to assume that Chris had a hand in the death of the beloved reformer. Even if one were to take Chris's word that Mays becoming mayor was non-canon, it's not difficult to see that CWCville is completely devoid of any remotely fair or democratic institutions. Chris denies the possibility of elections and mentions that he inherited the position of mayor from Bob.

TL;DR: CWCville checks out for all of the traits save (possibly) for labor suppression. At 13 out of 14 characteristics, CWCville is most definitely a fascist police state.

You may be looking at this and thinking "Konstantinos, isn't is already pretty obvious that CWCville is a dysfunctional mess? Is the list really needed?" I made this list because although its well known that CWCville is a horrible place, I've never seen a comprehensive assessment as to why it's a horrible place. I figured I would try and make my own, however inconclusive and mediocre the end result was.

After having examined how thoroughly fucked up CWCville is, I have to wonder: if Chris ever does resume Sonichu like he seems to have been alluding to as of late, what kind of CWCville will we see? How much more dysfunctional could it get? What kind of tyrannical depravity would Chris delve deeper into if he did return to his position as mayor?

On that note, discuss the politics and internal problems of CWCville as well I suppose.

What I personally think Chris was trying to portray was a simple small town village. A friendly, sweet place with friendly sweet inhabitants and ruled over by a well-meaning, lovable mayor with a very paternal attitude towards his people. Aided by his army of electric pokemon hedgehogs he saves the town from a variety of villains, all the while continuing on his own noble quest for love and understanding. It's a magical, wonderful place, the closest thing to Heaven Chris knows. So whoever threatened his idyllic universe had to be dealt with in the most effective of ways. Things like the show trial were just Chris "setting an example" to what would happen to any troll who dared mess with his body of work. Kind of like how Jace 'killed' Deagledad by posting images of guns and going "OWNED!". That's exactly what Chris did with his trolls - unable to physically or even digitally harm any of them, he killed them 'on screen'.

Chris' work is a revenge fantasy. It is a world in which everything is exactly the way Chris wants it to be, minus the love but HES WORKING ON IT. It is basically Heaven to Chris, North-Korea for anyone else.

I've mentioned this elsewhere in the forums, but my background is in public policy and politics, so this is something that I've spent far too much time thinking about as well. It's almost eerie how neatly CWCville inadvertently checks off each item on this list.

I've actually been working on and off on a parody Sonichu Season 2 for awhile now, and this (http://www.urbansplatter.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Ryugyong_hotel_01.jpg) is a prominent part of CWCville's skyline, just to drive home the point.

How could CWCville get worse? If Neo-Nazis and anti-government militia types start moving there because Chris has essentially created a city independent of US authority. They arrive in CWCville, pledge loyalty to Chris, and start up meth labs, bombmaking, and gun smuggling rings. The US government can't touch them, and they'd probably try to stay in Chris's good graces by helping him fight the trolls and enforce order in CWCville so he looks the other way on their illegal activities and doesn't kick them out. That is, assuming he isn't dumb/lazy enough to not realize they're criminals, which is likely.

5. Homophobia and Misogyny - Chris enforces mandatory "Dating classes" for the people of CWCville, instructing them to stay straight or else.
Date Ed (Even though the idea sounds pants-on-head-retarded) wasn't mandatory (source), the characters are just all idiots who took the class because they can't talk to the opposite sex.

On the other hand, something that could be added to this section is that women apparently can't vote (source), although it's not clear what men are able to vote on, since there are no elections.

11. Anti-Intellectualism - One of the many people resisting Chris's rule in the comic is Mary Lee Walsh, the dean of what is apparently the only college around.
There's also Cwcville University (state-run, naturally)

Naturally, these two partial counterpoints are Undeniable Proof that CWCville is a TRUE and HONEST Democratic Country, despite what LIES have Been Spread by Trolls and JERKS!!

CWCville almost sounds like Auschwitz.

I'm totally invoking Godwin's law right now but they did throw Gays in places like Aushwitz as well. In a way, Hitler was kind of like the original CWC. He was a butthurt dork trying to convince the world that he could draw even though he clearly couldn't. I guess the Jews were like the original trolls to him then.

Crap, do I sound like :alog: after having said that?

I was going to say CWCville is just your average tinpot dictatorship, but your list has convinced me it is indeed a Fascist state. The most important characteristics that set Fascism apart from other autocracies to me is the corporatist approach to economics (with rampant corruption) and the use of ideological warfare to embrace totalitarianism, of which CWCville has both in droves.

CWCville is Chris' own ideal world to him, as the Prince of Darkness pointed out above. If people challenge it's claimed utopian nature, he gets upset.

Clyde: You've never had elections in CWCville. It's a dictatorship.
Chris: [stress sigh]
Clyde: I mean, when were you voted into office?
Chris: I reveal that, I'll reveal that soon enough, all right?

Then there's this. I don't know if this is really legit. I believe it's a conversation between Emily and Chris:
Chris : It would be a democracy.
Me : -fumbling for words- Democracy means there are like elections and people vote for who they want to be in
office.
Chris : Hm. Yeeeeah. But. Because I founded the town uh we do not need to hold elections.
Me : Oh well. That's not a democracy. That's a dictatorship.
Chris : That's kind of dumb. It just sounds crappy when you use that word.
Me : Well that's what it's called lolololol. I'm just saying.
Chris : Hm.
Me : But ANYWAYS[change subject before stress sigh ensues].
Chris : I'd have to think more about that I guess.

Not to mention the fact that Chris inherited CWCville from Bob, as referenced in Sonichu #8. Keeping power in the family is another sign that CWCville is a fascist state.

This is one of the reasons I enjoy Sonichu. If you look at it from the perspective of Chris's inane propaganda campaign to somehow explain to his citizens what he is doing is the right cause, it becomes a whole lot better and makes a lot more sense.

All of the Sonichus and Rosechus are figures Chris uses to justify ruling everything.
Sonichu functions as more of a Big Brother figure, as a keeper of power who will kill and destroy all enemies of the state.
Rosechu is a model for women, as Chris sees how they should act.
Mary Lee Walsh is an Immanuel Goldstien character, who is used as an escape goat by Chris to justify killing people who disagree with him.

So... in a sense... Chris actually is worse than Hitler? Damn.

It's really the perfect illustration of how Chris relates to the world. It's his Happy Place, which he's published without modification, and to him the idea that people might disagree with his idea of paradise just doesn't occur. Because he doesn't like the idea of losing his authority, there are no elections. Because he doesn't like homosexuals, homosexuality is illegal. If people don't like it, it's because they just haven't seen things from his point of view. It's not intentionally fascist, it's just Chris' perfect world in which not only is everything the way he wants it to be, but he also doesn't have to consider other people's feelings.

Incidentally, I just used the words "Chris" and "perfect illustration" in the same sentence, which is a paradox that may destroy the universe. Sorry about that.

Really interesting discussion. I have a very diffetent view of CWCville, but I have to say that the posts above make a good case for the fascist theory.

To me, CWCville is a great example of childish naievete. When I was young I'd make cars and trucks out of Lego, and think "I want a car just like this when I grow up, but life-sized with a Ferrari engine!"

Of course my design had no seatbelts or airbags or crumple zones or anything; it would've been a deathtrap.

Naive, childish fantasies like CWCville would always suck in reality because their infantile creators have no grasp of real-world concerns.

That's what makes the Chris' representation of CWCville so morbidly fascinating to me. Chris, by virtue of the fact that he's as dense as osmium, somehow managed to perform an act of pseudo-brilliance in creating a near-perfect representation of a fascist society. CWCville is presented as utopia but Chris' childishness makes it look like something out of George Orwell's deepest nightmares. It's brilliant in a deranged, unintentional way.

To me, the social structure of CWCville is one of the most important tools when it comes to trying to understand Chris' mindset. I'm very empathetic. I like trying to understand why people do the things they do, and Chris has been...a challenge.

CWCville's rules, perhaps unsurprisingly, seem to change rapidly depending on Chris' current whim and mindset. When the comic first started, and Chris wasn't frustrated by trolls, it seemed like a relatively nice (If a bit unreal) place to be, with an "average number of cool places to hang out at". As the story of Chris continued, the Orwellian themes started creeping in as a way to deal with his frustrations in real life. In a way, it's sort of a coping mechanism for him.

I think if we were to see more Sonichu comics, CWCville's rather draconian laws on alcohol consumption may be conveniently forgotten about, and Slaweel Ryam may suddenly disappear to make way for a new villain to wield the scepter of Count Graduon, as Chris seems to have moved on from these hangups and feuds. I wouldn't be surprised if he brought back Sailor Megumi as a villain, based on his latest perceptions of her role in the whole affair.

At this point? Cue the evil clone organization 'IBAki' with its legions of zombie trolls [like zombie goasts, only, you know, us], who have not only been involved in the burning down and subsequent destruction of Chris' house [possibly the mall but that's also unpossible, unless Chris' continuous bannings mean we took over the mall and locked Chr!s-Ch@n out of it]. Sailor Megtune is our Queen, rejected by that skunk she lying and slanderously claims she has created, and the one who has been turning every single female in the world against Chr1s-Ch@n and in favor of the [possibly homogay] JERKS or lesbianism with her evil wills.

Then at this point the 'IBAki' trolls have corrupted one of Chris' last bastions of safety, the eBuy network, when his attempts at satisfying the masses desperate for the Sonichu content that the trolls have clearly denied them thanks to having damaged Chris' relationship with society to the point where it's Chris against the world, again. And then Chris proceeds to Episode 17 all over the trolls because it's not like he's damaged feminism enough.

[I'm sorry, is this against the rules or simulating what Chris would actually do based on past activity not count?]
