Its playable without mods, certainly. Enjoyable? Deep? Fulfilling? None of those are words I would use to describe base, unmodded Skyrim. If you use the Unofficial Patch because Bethesda can't code, congrats, your Skyrim is modded.

I think that's almost guaranteed to be the author's shallow viewpoint; given that this article is from Ebaum's World, a site founded solely on some guy who never had anything of his own to offer just taking other people's shit and watermarking it.

It's one thing when politics get shoved into a game and ruin it for you, but that's a bit silly when it comes to mods. The mods are free and you don't have to get any one mod in particular so you can just completely ignore them if you so choose. To me, it seems like a better policy would have been just to have tossed all political mods into a containment board and left it at that. If you go there and get offended by something that's just on you.

There's tons of places you can upload mods to. Nexus is the easiest one to navigate. Github, the many offshoots of Github such as gitgud, Loverslab(actually has a lot of non-porn mods), millions of fan sites for specific games, Google Drive, and Moddb. Nexus Mod Manager and Vortex both work with mods downloaded outside of Nexus. You can even pack your own zip files and run them through the managers.
It used to be common for prolific modders to host the mods on their own websites.
Kind of waiting for Nopy to get out of the Invite Only phase. I'd like to see how that turns out for a place to hold mods.
