Fast Food & Other Restaurant Horrors - Subtle Disgust to Literally Dangerous Mishaps

I worked at restaurants front and back of the house pretty much all of HS and college. I saw plenty of gross shit but the most cliche thing I ever saw was one of the cooks would bang one of the waitresses in the walk in cooler in the prep area downstairs pretty much on a daily basis when they were working. They were caught and fired eventually but it went on for a couple months.

Got the typical stories of the bus boys eating and drinking half consumed food and shit too. NGL there were def times when I'd see some rich fuck take one sip out of a gin and tonic before walking out and I'd finish one once and awhile. Perks of the gig, small as they were.

Last time I got McDonald's I was appalled at how shitty the quality was, that was all the way back in October and I haven't been back since.

Last time I got Taco Bell, not only was the quality subpar, my jaw literally dropped when I saw what they were charging for it, utterly absurd prices for food of that quality.

I feel like the quality of Taco Bell used to be a bit better, but even if not the prices they are charging are not even remotely worth it, McDonald's I know used to be better quality.

The Woke climate and the general climate in general is hitting fast food hard because it's unWoke to tell people to actually do a good job and people are miserable and not motivated right now anyway, I've gotten Burger King a few times and that was actually decent enough quality, but I've been way cutting back on fast food in general.

I'd rather pay a few extra dollars for actual food at God's Chicken, or a small independent greasy spoon.
It's better not to eat than to eat at McDick's.

I got cheesy bacon fries with my Charleys Cheesesteaks lunch today. Threw them out halfway through because I started to smell isopropyl alcohol or something similar coming from either the box or the fries closer to the bottom

the best we ever had it was when a group would order a keg for the party area and we'd siphon at least 3-4 pitchers off it before they got there. hospitality business is all about handling ur shit while whatever else (including intoxications) is going on -- it's got its charms.

I strongly remember telling the tale of a KFC/Taco Bell where I had a person on drive thru have a psychological breakdown in the middle of my order in this thread. It's also the same place that tried to do the scumbag move of closing an hour early. Well for a few years they actually straightened out their bullshittery for the most part...

Until this year. I don't know how they manage to get orders wrong five times in a row, but by god they have. I think the winner was fuck up number five, because NOT A SINGLE ASPECT OF THE ORDER WAS RIGHT. Best part is the fuckers intentionally made things cost 25 bucks more since they gave us these horrendous chicken wrap things that cost double of what we actually asked for, and got even the fried chicken wrong.

The fucked part is this STILL HAPPENS EVEN WHEN YOU CHECK THE DAMN FOOD. It's actually quite comical in retrospect, but fucking infuriating when you find out at the time.

My mom once ordered a salad at Mc Donald's and found maggots in it.

Not a restaurant story, but I bought potato salad from a store one time and when I opened it there was a big piece of plastic between the potatoes.
I contacted the company and sent them pictures of it and they responded with "nah that's just a piece of onion, but anyway, have this 10% coupon for a flower shop"
Haven't bought that brand ever since.

Not so much a horror story, just more of a conformation that anyone who has worked in a restaurant knows.

Used to work as a cook in a truck stop diner in my college days. The worst tippers (if they tipped at all) were blacks, the messiest slobbiest people were church groups, the creepiest were pajeets.

It wasn't fast food but was like a bed and breakfast hotel type of thing. Place to eat was dead empty, only thing on the menu was a burger and whatever kind of beer you want if it wasn't breakfast. I say OK, a burger is fine. I waited forty minutes in some dank dungeon cell they called fit to call a dining room and was served a burger that hadn't been cooked at all. I'm talking you could see where someone had kneaded it to form the patty still. They tell me 'oh yeah the grilltop is broken'.

This place also had no cable as it was out in the middle of nowhere. They had tiny TVs in the rooms with DVD players. The DVDs you could take out I'm pretty sure were all stolen from a local library or were actual homemade ghost adventures. It was bizarre. Jacuzzi didn't work, my crayfish died the day I was coming back (admittedly not their fault but fuck 'em), and there were a family of meth addicts living in the forest I think.

Recently I went to a Chinese buffet with my wife. The food was fine, we were one of perhaps three groups of people in the restaurant. Suddenly a nigger comes in and sits in the takeaway only section. This particular area was still under Covid restrictions, so the people waiting for to go orders were given their own waiting area away from dine-in patrons. Now, he never paid for a buffet, nor had he ordered a takeaway, he literally just came in off of the street and plopped his ass down in a chair. Naturally the Chinese folks weren’t particularly happy about this and told him that if he wanted to eat at the buffet he’d have to move. Somewhere in his crack addled brain this equated to discrimination, and a complete chimpout ensued.

Fuck niggers.

I've had so many bad experiences with Burger King that I no longer even consider it as a food option.

-Food is always old and cold.
-Shit service.
-Place as a whole isn't clean.
-Also learned from a friend that works at BK that they never change their fryer oil cause corporate doesn't allow it.

It sucks because I went to BK a lot as a kid and I don't remember it sucking that bad.

Surprisingly, despite working at a restaurant for a while in my teenage years I have surprisingly few bad stories. Most were cases of drunks wandering in the kitchen, people skipping bills, or rats in the restaurant alley (if more than 4 restaurants are in the same row then there are rats.)

My old manger was this greasy Middle Eastern guy who treated me pretty well for the work he had me do. I often got free lunch because he really liked my work ethic and he was used to his cousin’s kids. Bar and Bistro. Only real food nightmares was some lady complaining that a Junebug was in her salad because she sat for thirty minutes without eating on the porch.

Only time I really had a bad meal was a place where even the fountain soda had this oily film. It was really crappy deli where there was just a yellow stain on everything. The fluorescent lighting and the wallpaper just felt like I was surrounded by jaundice. I got a Reuben and it seems like they just boiled the meat til the flavor was gone. The bread just seemed odd, like for a rye it was inverse. Soft edge and hard actual bread. The fries just seemed like boiled potatoes they tossed in the fryer.
I’m pretty sure it was just a front for some other business because one of the cooks just kept getting the manager while I was there. It just felt like he didn’t know how to cook.
