Usually, if I want to lose weight or detoxify my body, I just eat better or go on some diet until I'm happy. But fasting has always seemed like an interesting concept. I've done a fair bit of research, but I'm still unsure if I'd ever try it. I've learned that fasting with water can allow you to live on however much extra you have on you, so long as you take precautions. Fasting without water is more dangerous, more uncomfortable, cannot last, but is more effective on that short term than fasting with water.
I've heard of people who've taken it upwards of 15, 30, even 60 days (the latter if they're lard-o-matic). I've heard it recommended by varied, reputable sources (the first I got the idea was from Plato). But I've also heard people to be against it, or at least skeptical. It's interesting, and I'm not sure I'd need any extended sort of fast if I were to do it, but it's a consideration. I'm still reading about it.
What is are the community opinions on this subject? I'm eager to hear.
