My personal favorite is the Moscow Mule.

Recipe (in the order things should be added):
Fill your glass with enough ice to make the drink very cold, I usually do half the glass.
1-2 shots of a vodka of your choosing (2 shots for best results).
Quarter of a lime squeezed in.
Finally add 1 cup of cold ginger beer (not ginger ale).
Bars will serve this is a copper mug because it helps keep it cold but if you add enough ice it won't really matter.

Enjoy.

Alcoholic beverages are ok (I'm partial to sherry mixed with water personally), but nothing beats a nice cold glass of non-alcoholic beer.

I like scotch. I like the islay scotch. That's the kind of scotch that tastes most like mouldering swamp water (they malt the barley with peat fired kilns).

I don't like other forms of scotch. Jura scotch is too sweet, may as well drink bourbon (which I do). Speyside is too smooth, like gin or vodkha. Highland and Lowland scotches are for poseurs.

I liked vodka, too. It either has to be super smooth bottom of the shelf rail... or really high quality flavored shit.

Tequila is pretty good, too. I like margaritas, but on the rocks, none of that frozen adult slushie shit.

I like beer, but I really like shitty American Adjunct Lager (good ol' american piss-water) because I can pound back a dozen of them in a sitting in five minutes and not feel sick.

That's pretty much my alcohol intake.

I don't believe in spending much time getting fancy about mixing drinks. That's for other people to do if I order something at a bar, which is usually an Old-Fashioned.

Rum & Coke is fine with me.

But I also like Dark & Stormy

Half strong spiced rum (Kraken will do)
Half strong Jamaican style ginger beer

And for a cold, a hot toddy. Half tea, half rum, squeeze in a half lemon, sweeten with honey, finish with a cinnamon swizzle if feeling fancy. Almost all these ingredients can be substituted in or out. Nutmeg or ginger is also good. Some put butter in. It doesn't cure a cold but you don't really give a shit about the cold any more.

Get a pint glass.
Fill a third of it with Vodka.
Fill the rest with Tesco strawberry milkshake.

Consume.

It's delicious and shameful all at the same time.

Manhattans. 2 shots of Bourbon, 1 shot of sweet vermouth, and a dash of bitters. Add a cherrry as a garnish.

A restaurant near me has barrel aged Manhattans that are wonderful. Pity the place is $$$$$$

Edit: Another favorite of mine:

Since we're heading into the cooler season, I'll toss this out

Hot Buttered Rum

1 stick (1/4 lb) unsalted butter
2 cups light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pinch ground cloves
Pinch salt
Bottle dark rum
Boiling water

In a bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and spices (I found a warm bowl makes this easier). Refrigerate until firm. Spoon two tablespoons of the mixture into a mug. Pour 3oz of rum into the mug & top with the boiling water. Mix well & serve.

This is awesome after you've shovelled the driveway/sidewalk. Or if it's just cold as fuck out. You can store the mix for damn near forever in the fridge.

I'm trying to find my notes on making a bloody mary, found this old post from the pre-food era.
I usually mix my worstishierieicierie with something else. Usually a few dashes of soy sauce, if it's the first one of the night I rarely do half a drop of maggi sauce. It's really, really potent stuff so even running a full drop around the glass and dumping the remainder ends up overpowering. When it works it's great but it's too easy to overdo it for me to use it often.

V8 and straight tomato juice both work for me.

Horseradish yes.

Jalapeno brine over olive brine, pickle brine sucked.

Usually for hot sauce mostly Frank's Red Hot with a bit of Cholula, but I just tried srirahhchchaha and a bit of Cholula. Not bad at all, but the cock sauce seems to hold its heat into the finished product more than other hot sauces.
